Painting front lip

I am going to have some lower body paint work done to freshen up the car in the areas where it takes the most abuse. After painting I'll be filming those areas including hood and front bumper. I would like to paint my front lip to body color as I really like to look vs the black lip. I know I'll probably be painting it every year or two. Can i have the OEM lip preped , primed and painted.? I don't need a different lip to paint, correct?

I have done it, it should work fine with the right prep.

jrohlf is infamous around these parts
Painting the lip body color should make the front end appear to be closer to the pavement, especially for lighter colored cars. Would be interested in before/after pics.

I always wondered why the replacement lip in black is $192 while the paintable replacement lip (in primer) is $790. Are they different materials?

That was my question. I can call the guys at Suncoast they are usually very helpful. I'm wondering if the only difference is prep cost, primer cost and markup.

Looks like I can paint the lip I have no problem. The $799 primered version at Suncoast is a different lip that fits the Turbo Aerokit. That's the price difference I can see.

I recently updated the look of my car by purchasing a new OEM primed aero front splitter, primed GT2 side skirts and rear valance. I contemplated using my pieces (front & rear) and then decided I simply wanted to go all out. The finish on the primed peices is definitely different, it's very smooth...likely working better to not only accept primer but also fresh paint. While I do think the look of the standard black is fine unpainted, IMO you'll want the painted parts to have the smooth surface appearance to match the rest of the painted areas. Additionally, the aero front lip really adds to the look of the front.

I then had the parts installed and then immidiately wrapped. Absolutely love the look!

Thanks I may do the same. Where do you buy your splitter and side skirts?

Suncoast...good prices and great service. Some peices were in stock and some had to come from Germany. They were delivered on time as committed.

Did you have to buy the full Aerokit or could you buy individual pieces? I only want the front splitter and side skirts.
