Question for those with EVT700

I got my 997.1 EVT700 back last Thursday and I am a very pleased owner. This car just plain GOES! At 3000rpm there seems to be a switch that just launches the car. Previously with the EVT580 I rarely heard the turbos spooling up. Now, from about 2200rpm or so, the turbos start spooling and the car just kicks you in the ****!

So, of course, I have a couple of minor issues that I'm trying to have ironed out. Just wondering if any of you EVT700 owners have had similar issues and what was done to resolve it.

My first issue is that the car doesn't always turn over on the first try. I have to turn the car off and then back on and it seems to always start on the 2nd try. This mainly happens if the car hasn't been driven for several hours. I have tried to turn the key to 'on' and let the fuel pressure build up for a second and this may or may not be helping.

Second issue is that the car is very, very jumpy for the first few minutes in the morning (engine cold). It almost feels like either the turbos are trying to spool right off throttle which doesn't make a whole lot of sense (and nearly impossible, right?) If I'm pulling away from the house in 1st gear the car feels like it wants to lurch forward but then has the fuel abruptly cut off. This leads to a lot of bucking. Once the vehicle is warm it drives perfectly. I had new platinum plugs put in at the time of install. Ideas?

Third issue is that I seem to be burning through fuel a bit faster than usual. Any ideas ?

are you on your original battery? could be that going out on you, 3 years is what you typically get if you dont keep it on a tender.

on a cold start all kinds of things are going on to warm up those converters to reduce emissions, probably something to do with that vs. the tune needing tweaked....just thinking out loud.

The battery is new as of last October. It was actually delivered to me with a dead battery.

The reason I think the cold start issue may have to do with the new tune is that it never had this problem with the EVT580 tune.

I hear ya thinking though and appreciate it!

RE: Fuel consumption. The duration on the injectors was likely increased via the ECU flash which increases the amount of fuel actually injected each combustion cycle and contributes to the power increase. Some decrease in fuel efficiency is to be expected. Best,

I was just kidding about this one... In my case, fuel consumption is due to using the right foot too much

If this just happened right after install then you prolly have a leak somewhere.

Yes this is most likely a leak in the pressurized system that confuses the ecu at start up. Go to a good shop and ask them for a leak test. They can do this by giving some pressure in the intake through a hose and trying to hear any leaking sounds. Once you fix this your car will have noticeably less lag, more power and probably also a bit better fuel consumption!
Otherwise, if there is no leak the next thing to check is the MAF sensor.
Hope that helps, good luck

A leak (boost?) wouldn't affect part throttle at cold startup. Sounds to me like the tune is a bit off at low engine temps - especially since you're having trouble starting up as well. Nothing to worry about from a reliability standpoint, but annoying. I would ask them to datalog it and make some adjustments.
