Converting to AWD

Has anyone converted a GT2 to AWD and what cost and headaches may be associated with it?

I am pretty sure the only reasonable way is to go to your local dealer and drive in with the gt2 and outwith the turbo s.

Definitely if you want AWD badly enough, sell the GT2 and buy a TT or TTS. I wont say it's impossible, but you're going to spend close to what the car is worth in order to do it and you'll be devaluing your car while doing it. Just doesn't make any sense, when you can probably sell it for about the same as it would cost to buy a new TT or slightly used CPO'd TTS

I have a TTS............just wondering how easy it would be. Apparently not

The biggest loss (in my eyes) would be handling.

well it was obvious that he will have the traction issues, with 3.8 and vtg's, with that kind of low end torque

Much easier to just take a TTS and change the suspension and strip the interior. You can end up pretty much with an AWD GT2.

Come on guys - I just happen to weight options no matter what they are. I have had big HP and TQ before and now what to expect. It is an interesting thought and wondered if anyone had done it before. BTW: stripping my TTS and adding what HP I possibly could will not come close to matching what I am expecting in my GT2. I asked if anyone had experience doing it - not what one would do if they where in my situation. A top notch clutch (to modulate the power) and experimenting with tires will be my very first step. Beyond 25-30 MPH and keeping a keen eye on my RPM's probably will do just fine. CMS has done an excellent job on the suspension and drive train - all will be fine. The AWD thought is interesting and just that............a thought.
Sorry for the pointed response but the only one whom knows what is behind it is me.........there are other GT2's (or GT3's) on the market. My current GT2 is staying just the way I originally intended with possibly a whole lot more weight savings AFTER I get a feel for it.

Sure it can be done if you just want to waste money, you'd need a 997 TT front diff, probably the gas tanks are different if the 997 is like the 996. I doubt there is a tunnel for the diff either so that would have to be created and any oil/coolant lines rerouted/protected. Then you'd need 997 TT rear output mechanicals to give drive to the front diff. You'd need front axles and to redo the front suspension so they don't bump into control arms and or drop links. Probably also would need front wheel carriers from the 997 TT.

You'd spend a lot LESS money converting your TTS to near GT2 specs and keeping it AWD.

Wouldn't that be a mess electronically as well? Aren't the center and front diffs electronically controlled?
