HID foglights ?

Anyone install a set of HID fogs yet? i have a 2011 turbo S and am considering doing this mod , wondering if anyone has done it yet, and if so what kit did you go with and did doing this cause an error message on the dash ?

im thinking about this kit :

Looks like they have resistors to avoid an error message.

The price makes me skeptical about quality. Looks interesting though. Keep us posted.

I have had a kit cheaper then this on my subaru STI and my bmw 645ci both same brand i paid $49 shipped for the kit and they have been installed for over a year and work like a charm! only thing on the BMW the fog light error kept coming on and that was kind of annoying , i want to avoid that in the 911 lol

Its very tight in that H3 housing and its sealed which makes installing an HID kit tricky. Its been done but IMO not worth it as I feel the glare makes the car look like crap. Without a good seal over time the lens of the fog light (inside) will dirty up and then your talking total PIA to remove and clean. When you get under the car its easier to understand what Im describing.

If only there was a 15W HID, that would be perfect, but cramming 3000 lumens in a part designed for 700 is going to scatter that light all over the place, nevermind that the filament position is way out of wack making matters worse.

Get a PIAA H3 superwhites and be done with it! Buy a few of them, H3's dont last long.

If you have a 2011 Turbo S - you dont have fogs right? The fog light housing where the 997.1 TT fogs are your DRL's.

I did install HID FOGS on my 997.1 TT though and they were great. I went with 3000k to get the real yellow lighting and it was very bright.

Thanks for sharing your experience, now when you did have the HID kit installed did you have an error light on or did you use resistors as well? also have you tried LED sidemarker lights or did you also use the PIAA's ?

I run Hoen Endurance H3 bulbs in there but they no longer sell them, rumored to re-start production of them though. I tried to put an HID kit in there but you will have electronic parts open to the elements and I figured that was not what I wanted underneath the front end of my car. Sure some are sold as 'weatherproof' but was not willing to take that chance. When you are down there and your hands are all torn up you dont want to be down there again any time soon fixing something, its tight!

In the sidemarkers I run Hoen W5W chromium which are stealth but glow amber when turned on, I like those better than the LED they also sell.

Pretty much the kit that you linked (they are a dime a dozen) with slim ballasts and resistors to eliminate codes... no codes

Wait, are your fogs in the same place as the DRL's?

I'm running this kit from USP in 3k. I've had them in for 8-ish months working well and no problems..no codes ect.

One of my Hoen lights for the turn signals has gone out though, only lasted 6 months.....not that happy bout that.

997.2 turbo DRL LED is in the fog light housing. Same front end, different lamp in fog light space.
