2012 997.2 TT whistling mirrors

With the windows down, cruising between 10mp abd 40mp I get this whistling noise that appears to come through the opening on the arm of the side mirrors. Does anyone else have this issue? Any solutions? This was both stock and after mods. Thanks!

How about an o-ring that would block the opeing creating the noise? Pull it over like a rubber band and block the gap.

The space is about an inch wide so that wouldnt work, probably wouldnt look so good. i was thinking that maybe there was a carbon fiber insert or strip that could snap in place that would reach out to end of mirror. Almost like a modified small mirior cover.

So THAT'S where that whistling is coming from!?! Thank you!

I only hear it on the passenger side though. Hope someone makes a plug for that hole. It doesn't happen all that much, but when it does, it's friggin' annoying!

I didnt understand where you were talking about but know I do...with that it seems it would be solved by removing any mold flash via a very fine grit sand paper. Of course it would be a warranty item. That is if there is a sharp to semi-sharp edge and your dealer agrees. I am sure they have heard it before.

That sounds like it might be the answer. I inspected the mirrors, and sure enough there is a bit more mold flashing than could/should be. Especially in the hole. Before I start micro-sanding with a Dremel - I'll Blue-Tape it smooth and see if that's the cure.

Man, seems like if it's a 2012 that should be covered under some sort of warranty!! Have you talked to a dealer?

Dealer said it is normal. Called it a design flaw. I am going to blue tape it as well and see if it stops. If that is the answer, I will have dealer fix under warranty.
