However, to say that all FK bushings should be avoided like the plague is well… with all due respect, out of line and silly. FK, Aurora, and others offer bushings in various materials and tolerances with price points to match. Simply put, if you order the lower, middle, high end or custom spec bushing you get what you pay for in terms of quality, longevity and performance.

RSS utilizes a propriety bushing that FK specs for our engineering requirements. Having sold thousands of RSS Suspension Components used in various environments (Grand Am, Club Racing, Track Day, and Street) all of which utilize FK solid mount bushing’s, we have not received a single request for a replacement bushing or complaint that the FK bushings were noisy or lost their performance in any way.

Since FK is not a sponsor of this forum, and therefore cannot respond directly to your statement, I wanted to chime in and share the experience of an engineering and manufacturing company which deals with their products on a daily basis in order to offer a different perspective.

Hi Mike,

Can with the Cargraphic in the red Turbo here

(and still loving it). If I were to install RSS links with heim joint in my car, how often would I need to change these links, assuming 10,000 miles per year, very rare or never track, occasional spirited driving in canyon roads?

I am always thinking about changing the rear toe link of my car, but my concern is the "wear and tear" nature of these solid-metal links. Alex's experience causes me to be even more concerned. TIA.

It's amazing to think they've become so loose that you could shake the wheels by hands. When you have pictures of the joints, please post - will be educational for all of us I think. Thanks.

Rear toe steer control arms were the worst worn. Then the dog bones on the opposite side.

Rear drop-links are stock and are fine.

I will publish a couple pics over on Teamspeed to keep everything together for now. My suspension tuner has only sent me a couple pics, more to come later.

Alex, thanks for posting picture. I can't see very well the difference between the 2 joints. At the tip of my red arrow, is there a gap in the old heim joint and not the new one?

It's not the gap that's the difference, its the smoothness of travel in the ball joint that you can feel as you move it about. Different league.

As for mod'ing - I got my powerkit/exhaust from Parr (near Gatwick), and my suspension upgrades from Centre Gravity (near Birmingham).

Centre Gravity is a MUST for any Porsche in the UK no matter if it's only for a re-alignment. THE best money you can spend on a Porsche HANDS-DOWN.

If the wheels are lighter than stock then it will make the car feel more nimble.

Anyone who has ever been to Centre Gravity (suspension specialists - click the link I embedded in my previous post) will tell you just how much even a customized geometry alignment will TRANSFORM the handling of your car. Chris basically asks you what you want and your driving style and spends 0.5-1 day with you making it PERFECT. I have had custom geometry from many other leading companies in the UK and Centre Gravity is way better than any of them!

Everyone at the Porsche Club swear by them - which is why there is usually a 2-3 month waiting list!!
