Dension BTA1500 not working

I have the Dension 500 for the last 6 months and it has been doing good job integrating the ipod to the PCM. I decided to add the bluetooth function so I bought the BTA1500. Upgrade software to 2.22, connected the BTA turn on and off the ignition many times but I can not get the BTA to work.
Switched the phone on the PCM ON, but can not get the "pairing" indication, instead I get the message "initializing phone" and after a while when a press the phone button I get "no simcard" message.
It is as if I the BTA1500 is non existent.

The manual is not helpful at all. Do I have to disconnect the factory phone module???? And if yes how is this done??

Any advice would be appreciated

Give bumperplugs a message - they are a sponsor and sell the equipment. I got mine from them. I'm sure they can give you some direction.

Kalispera.
Who installed it? In Athens? It seems that the PCM doesnt recognize the unit if its initializing the phone.
I had a tookie, which I need to reinstall in the TT (has been moved around) which replaces the telephone module in the fiber optic loop. You dont have to remove the phone module, just tap in the tookie in the loop. It should be something similar in the BT1500 I assume. What I had done was take instructions from the net with me to the shop that installed it.

Good luck

Kalimera

Previous owner fitted the Dension 500 Ipod interface and it still works ok.
I managed to discover the unit in the footwell but I dont know how it is connected with the FB optic loop. I guess it is ok since the PCM recognizes the ipod as a cd changer.
The BT1500 connects directly to the dension 500 so there is no need for further connection to car's loop.
I can't get the PCM to recognize the BT1500 and when a press the phone button the factory phone is activated.

By the way i bought the bt1500 on line from Dension.com. I mailed them for troubleshooting but I had no response.

I thought with the Dension bluetooth you had to disable the factory phone to get it to work.
I am sure Eric from bumperplugs.com will be here shortly with an answer for you.

Disable or disconnect, and how????? I am sure I've read others didn't have to disconnect anything and it worked right away.

Anyway I hope Eric gives some advice and what/how to disconnect whatever is needed.

I don't think I have enough points to PM him.

I have to bypass the factory phone module. Basically the factory module has to be removed from the fiber optic loom. I have to buy a fiber optic coupler.

Once I got all the details it was pretty clear - there was a factory phone module in the vehicle from the prev owner, and there is no way to fully use a bluetooth system with the factory phone in place, so the easy way is simply to bypass the factory module (usually under the passenger seat), unplug it, and have a dealer de-program it from the car, then the BTA should fire right up and do its job.
