I saw this today at Porsche.
Best part of the new car is for sure the interior...Rear end is so so...I dislike very small taillights, porsche is not needed for sure (although it might confuse you with an aston) and all these badges keep your eyes there...which is bad for the overall shape of the car that looks great...
P.S. Nick,J lo is the best...

I checked the price at Porsche for of one of these new Astin Martin Lagunas and the word here is 320K will buy you a nice S.. but without full leather. So add another 8 for that
. I can fully understand why the early 996/997 cars always look so beautiful in the eyes of (some) existing beholders
and the new one looks so damn ugly with all these horrible bubble headlights sun roofs and rear badge cluster F...s
.
But guys let's all look on the bright side OK. Astin Martin has evidently fancied Porches J-lo butt for years and has being trying to configure that look into the rear of their car without making it too obvious what they're up to. Now Porsche gets even
. It successfully incorporates the look of the Astin rear into the sexy butt of 911 and by look of it has kicked a big goal. So. The motto of the story is clear. Better to have an Astin stuck on the rear of your Porsche than a f...ing hyundai's butt
. 991 is a winner guys. Get over it. C'mon man up and face your demons. Turbo guys ought to know better than to behave like this
. Sheeesh. I can only imagine whats going to happen when 991tt comes out.....

I'm going to stay with my opinion about the subtle resemblance with an Aston in the rear. I personally never said it was a bad thing at all. I believe the DBS is one of the sexiest cars out there. My only personal complaint was about the front end and DRL's/Turn Signal complexity, integration, style. Most members here dropped 150+ on their current P-car and I'm sure the 991 or 991TT is not out of reach for most here. With that said, the envy comment to me makes little sense. I agree that with personal interaction opinions may sway. Maybe for the better or for the worse. I say keep the personal opinions coming...?
Thanks again OP for the pictures. Can we possibly get some interior shots so we can start to talk about how it looks like a Volvo with the "cascade" center console?
Happy Holidays,

I know that I am not in the minority when I say that there are certain areas of the new 991 body style that's a 'miss', and it has nothing to do with the fact that we own the current model turbo. Looks aside, none of us can comment on how it drives, which IMHO is equally important.. and perhaps may alter my perception.
Back to the OP's original dilemma and the title of this thread, which would you choose, a 997.2 TTS or a 991S. I'd say you'd be in denial to say that you'd pick the 991. I mean come on, ask yourself, if this were the LAST Porsche you'd own, and one you'd keep forever, you'd take an 'S' over a 'TTS'???
I know that for some there is the argument of depreciation. If your remotely worried about that, then a much safer bet is to skip both cars, and find a low mileage 08/09 997.1 TT with a 6MT.. or you can always 'invest' in a 993.

the auto is gorgeous...a bit of overkill in script...lil bit of British Aston in the **** but it works...the added vintage touches such as retro stem mirrors and higher seating...absolutely stunning.
the 911 will always be the standard benchmark to which others will only hope in trying.
