I'm now a proud 997TT Owner!
I think that there are annual memberships and life memberships to the 11-99 assoc (11-99 means "officer in distress" in CHP speak). I joined in 2001 and did the life membership, for what seemed like a lot back then $2,500--and there were no levels and I got a gold ID car. Much more than that now. I got a credit card sized life member gold badge as well as plates and a plaque. I get invited to all kinds of fundraisers and events for the kids of fallen officers. Its a good charity. The driving benefits have been remarkably good as well, but I've never done anything truly stupid, thankfully.
Today I am told that you have to be sponsored for a life membership? Background checks etc. Probably had some gansta's buying them to get out of stops??

Congrats! I am the same way about checking my car. I know where the rock hits are on the hood and wind shield. I just remind myself that nothing stays perfect forever. Especially a DD. Enjoy!
