Strange dot on speedometer

It's more of annoyance then a problem but I just noticed a small dot (deal pixels?) right below the red needle on my tachometer that is lit at all times. Anyone else experience this? I presume the only fix is to replace the display unit?

Indeed, almost certainly a "stuck" pixel. It is sometimes possible to fix these by careful "massaging" of the area (I'm not kidding). Do some Google searches on how to fix stuck / dead (separate conditions) pixels. The attempted fix is similar, but I think the success rate is higher for one or the other.

Usually, the problem is that one of the connections that controls power flow to the liquid crystal cell is either barely severed, or accidentally shorted, so physical force is sometimes able to push the delicate wiring back into place.

I have a DLP and though this isn't a DLP projector, its going to likely stay on for life.

Likely have to replace the display.

Yeah, assuming you're under warranty, don't bother--it should qualify for replacement. It's definitely not a DLP which would not be fixable in a similar way.

If you end up in a similar situation with an LCD without a warranty, the technique I mentioned can be useful.

Thanks so much guys. The car is still under factory warranty so I will take it in. I thought about "massaging" the area but you can't really get to easily with the protective/glare plastic guard in front.
