Launch control - with no launch control 997.1TT manual
Curious if any one has actually mastered the perfect clutch drop, to get at close to a launch as you can without true PDK Launch control.
What RPM's do you take it to, Is it a fast blip to build pressure (will any pressure build up?) or slow climb up? What RPM range? Quick drop and throttle push or slower and lay in the throttle... ? Never really tried a clutch drop, but may attempt a few runs this weekend.
Second - I thought I read somewhere that Softronic was offering a mod with their ECU upgrade that allowed this function for non PDK cars. Wondering if that was just for tips or manual too?
I'm sure one could do that with a bit of programming... hmmm

the burning smell will be the clutch and the whooshing sound will be your wallet emptying. I've been too chicken to try and get a "perfect" launch off the line. I'm sure I'd be beaten off the line by a Cayenne turbo, X5M etc..., and possibly my wife's minivan if she were in a hurry. Different story from a roll though....
its near impossible to launch this thing consistently with that crap assisted clutch. do a gt2 conversion and pedal feel / grabs will be 99% more consistent = better launches and less burning.
Found this: Softronic Launch control for a 996TT
Thanks for the insight on gt2 conversion. What's needed and how much is this?

*Why the black smoke? We messed up… We loaded a 93octane file instead of 91octane file. That is the ECU compensating. Correct file has been loaded and new videos to come at www.youtube.com/vividracingk I found this while looking into launch control...

About a grand parts, labor is going to vary but even if you have to throw $600 in labor at it well worth it.
I'm also too conservative with the car to try perfecting a launch. True power isn't about a pop off the line. That's just a 2 second song and dance. Real gforces are impressive if you're able to experience once already rolling.
No. Only 997 GT2's and 997.2 turbos (2010+) have this functionality.
