Nose lift on 997.2 TTS
Nose lift on 997.2 TTS
Has anyone been able to install a nose lift kit (TechArt, Cargraphic, HLS, etc.) on a car that does not have aftermarket coilovers? Was thinking of lowering with new springs, and adding F/R sways, then putting in the nose lift but it seems from what I've found that I will have to do the coilovers as well to get the lift.
Thanks
Thanks
I don't fully see the point of a nose lift system because you could buy a lot of front lips for the price of a nose lift. If your area has worse than normal conditions, then I would see the point, but otherwise it may not be necessary.
Thanks for the reply - I agree, normally I would just do the same as most and plan to replace regularly. In my case, though, I want to install a CF splitter and want to be able to preserve it as much as possible. At stock ride height, I scrape often enough already, so that CF lip is gonna be in great danger!
*EDIT*
Also should say that I did my first track event last weekend, and as those that do it know, the bug has bitten. So, my situation is that while this is my DD, I will get on the track at every opportunity.

You need to have after-market coilovers. I have KW V3's with HLS. It's awesome. Has a nice push button LED indicator and a remote that I never use. I integrated it into the ash tray. Pretty slick. Cargraphic is slow as it doesn't use hydraulic pump. It uses the on-board air compressor. I heard they have problems so RSS the distributor does not carry them any more.
Yes I could buy a new front lip every time I get a scratch but that's a hassle. Plus I don't like hearing my 200k car scratching on the road so that's why I bought a lift kit. GT cars have them and so should we from the factory.

Thanks Chris - appreciate the info. At the risk of starting a war again (let's not do that), I went to my local indy shop (very experienced in P-cars) and suggested I wanted to go with KW. He told me that as a mostly DD, they would have to be rebuilt fairly often because of DD conditions, and KW won't rebuild them for a reasonable price.....whereas the Bilsteins can be rebuilt (don't need it often) much more reasonably. I know this comparison of KW versus Bilstein is endless, but has anyone else heard something like this? Have you had a chance to compare your KW system with Bilstein to compare ride in non-sport mode by any chance? Of course, I'm looking for the same nirvana that doesn't exist....best comfort on the streets and best handling on the track, but someone that has run both could help us all understand the differences. How long have you had the KW, and how often do you track? Finally, are your KW's PASM compatible?
Thanks again.

You can't go wrong with the Bilstein Damptronics if you are just looking for a bit more performance, lowered ride height and integration with the PASM feature. However, in my opinion and the general consensus would say that the KW V3's are more track oriented than the Bilstein's as the KW's are adjustable whereas, the Damptronics are not. So you could conceivably set the KW's to ride real soft or real hard.
I found that on my 997.2TT OEM suspension on sport mode to be stiff and bouncy but not in a good way. Now with the KW's my car is stiff and planted. It's tough to really judge the KW's on their own as I did GMG sways, RSS Tarmac Stage 2 kit, and Tarett drop links all at the same time. I'm also running -3 degrees of camber front and rear and had the suspension corner balanced.
I track about 7 times a year. The KW's can come with a PASM delete feature meaning you won't get a fault icon. They also come without this feature which, is what I have. I just had it disabled with the Porsche PIWIS.
Honestly, if I could do it over again I would go with a set of JRZ's or moton's. The more adjustability the better on the street and track IMHO. Just make sure you have a good and knowledgable installer which you said you do
