Protomotive 997GT2 E85 3.8L FP3586 turbo results
Hello Antonis,
We have built more than 28 kits so far and none of them has complains. (knock on the wood
It's still holding very well even in Salih's and my car with so much power.
Regarding the drivability, its not so different than the stock tranny.
All of my customers use their cars in daily basis. Our goal is to prepare a really fast car with the best drivability.
I would like my customers to enjoy their cars every single day.
Cheers,
Emre

Ugh, you and your strong tiptronics; mine was built by renntech, and I noticed a slight fluid sweat, slight seepage. Roughly a year after my Tip trans was built... 35k miles and a 6speed swap is needed, like the website name.
p.s we need gtovan to post vids of this ANIMAL GT2... and possibly sell it to one of us in the near future.. lol

Thank you for the explanation Emre, i know that your kit is proven to be the best tip upgrade on the market, the thing is my car with 630whp sometimes finds it difficult shifting from 1st to 2nd, especially when launched.
Anyway that could be a TCU thing.
Also i met some guys who has builded their tip and again had issues after a while. I believe the driver plays acrousial role too, if you abuse a tip will fail whatever the modds, same as if you abuse a heavy duty clutch.
Do you do any torque converter modds? I believe that should affect drivability
Anyway congrads for the great job done on the tip :-)

Your 1-2 shift problem is related with ECU and TCU calibration.
You can even destroy a stock car tiptronic by bad driving.
Drive in M mode and put the high gears (with low rpms) and fully press throttle, the tranny will start slipping

Also, i have never touched the torq converter in our kits. it can affect drivability like you said.
P.S: The best way for everybody to check their tiptronic condition is the colour of the oil inside.
Anyway, we are going off the topic. If you have any more questions let me know.
Regards,
Emre
Still @ Proto and Todd K. roadtested it a couple of weeks ago. He is currently putting on Heim-jointed rear links (upper & lower) plus I've ordered Hoosier A6's when it gets back. It blows off the Sport Cups pretty easily according to him.

Car is running great. Love the Proto twin disc clutch... very easy to modulate in city driving. Hoosier A8's keep the rear end hooked up well. Curently switching to the straight-pipe setup to make all maximum power... I ran the X-pipes at the TI which put it at a lower peak hp.
