Another 997 Turbo Maxspeed LED Upgrade
Inside of the led cluster is a lens that covers the bulb. What I am saying is I pushed one off when putting the new bulb in because it was too long. Take a look at your car!
Ok Ok interesting, good thing to watch out for. I never had any problems. As long as this is known and you are careful im sure it shoudent be a problem.
So what did you do about the bulb being too long?
I took an orbital sander to the bulb and ground it down a bit. The contacts are long enough to allow for this. I've attached a few photos to illustrate my issue please note this is is only specific to the front city lights and no other bulbs. Also I'm not suggesting this is a Maxspeed specific issue I just want people to be aware.
Ive attached 3 photos:
1. Drivers side with no mods done to the bulb, note the vertical red line which shows the edge of the lens within the housing. Note how close the bulb is to the line.
2. Modifiied bulb on the passenger side note the gap
3. Side by side of "OEM" vs my griding action

I didin't want to take a chance again so I modified it. I had no problem with the drivers side.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the photos. My bulbs arrived today so I'll take a stab at the front lights tonight!

Cool post pics when you're done and don't knock of a lens otherwise you better be very good at building ships in bottles
What I noticed as I was attempting to reinstall the front running light bulb fixture into the housing was that the LED bulb itself was pivoting between the connection blades because of the tight space, therefor when I started to lock the fixture while turning, it started to push on the thin leg of that notorious lens! I halted, back out, straightened the LED and went at it again and prevailed!
Great inexpensive mod. I will post photos this evening.
Thanks for posting Euro!

Hey G happy to hear it worked out for you without a hiccup. I'm glad I could help. Regarding your dim comment. I mentioned earlier that only the engine compartment bulb was dim all the other interior lights including the frunk worked perfectly. Not sure why since the bulb for the frunk/engine and center dome are the same but maxspeed is aware of it and hopefully they'll have a solution. Enjoy!

I'll look at it later.
Thanks,

Nice now get those side marker bulbs in. So what do you think about how well it matches with the headlights? In my opinion an upgrade to 6k headlamps would match better.
