Rhythmic Click--Clock Sound From Rear. Help!
Rhythmic Click--Clock Sound From Rear. Help!
There is a mechanical soft "click---clock" sound coming from approximately right rear of the car. It's repetative, rhythmic, regularly spaced every 3 seconds like a tic of a grandfather clock. It's always present when engine running, regardless of speed, rpm, gear, at a stop, rpm, etc. It's a 2012 TT that's only 3 months old w 700mi.
What can this be?...
Thanks.

Thanks function12.
I just came back from the dealer about an initial "no sound from radio & display freeze" issue. I also asked them about the 3s click problem that just noticed while driving to the dealer. Hey, that never happens, right?! They didn't have time to delve deep into the diagnosis, but said that it was a relay that is going off more than it should. What could that mean??...

It would depend on what the relay is used for. Hopefully the relay does just fuse itself in on of the positions. I would get that checked out sooner than later.
The turn signal clicking you here in other cars in the relay latching and unlatching. One position it provides current in another it disconnects the current. Both out comes can be bad depending on what it is supplying power to.

Thanks function12, for now the clicks stopped. So I am not sure if it was a fluke the resolved itself or one theat may come back. In any case, I am due to go back in a few weeks to change out the radio module because the display and function of the radio and ipod freeze, and there's no sound. They couldn't fix it do they had to order a new part from the factory. Hopefully, this is it on a 3 month old car!!!
