So, I have a silver emblem and silver wheel emblems as well to replace my "golden" ones...

Wheels...piece of cake - 2 minutes for all with time to waste...

Then, I move to my hood emblem, grab the 8mm and begin doing some work...and continue working and it is simply not going anywhere. Weird. Tried the other one and...same results. Grrrrrr.

I guess when I had my hood wrapped they either overtighten them or cause them to strip as these puppies are NOT coming out for NOTHING!

I have tried several things...but to no avail.

Any ideas? How would you get these suckers off if they continue to spin and spin and spin?

Use needle nose pliers and pull them off... you don't want to re-use those anyhow, as they're not threaded "nuts".

I don't think there are needle nose pliers that would fit through those holes...??? I have an assortment of them but none of them slim enough to fit through...

Hmmm... I'm trying to remember what I did because I ran into the same problem a few years ago on my 1st Turbo. I swear I ended up pulling them off somehow.

Again, you don't want to re-use those nuts... so don't be afraid to break em... if you can. Just try not to damage the posts on the badge, or you won't be able to re-use it... but if you really don't care, I suggest you try and pry it off being careful to protect your hood, etc. I mean, heck, you have new badges, right?

On 2nd thought... it's probably not going to be possible to pry them off... those little suckers can be really tight.

These guys say needle nose as well.. time to get some new tools?

After trying lots of things I bit the bullet...I went and found some nifty long nose plyers but that wasn't enough either so I had no choice but to drill them off carefully. It was a pain in the ***...I still had to use the needle nose plyers to yank them off after using the drill. 5 minute mod that lasted 2 hours...

Thanks for the tips...

Glad you got it done, I just installed a silver one also and used a set of neddle nose plyers to remove the bolt. Mine was not stripped but stayed in place once I removed the emblem. The sticky sealant had it stuck to the underside of the hood.

So happy with the new look, Siver on GT silver....

Yup...I am very happy with the results. I changed the wheel caps as well...why was supposed to be a 10 minute mod, ended up being a 2 hour deal...lol--but happy with the aftermath. I have one extra brand new in silver and a used gold one that I will put up for sale along with the gold crest caps...any idea what these usually go for? Mine were a gift from a vendor so I have no idea what to ask or my used ones...

Its a press fit type connector from what I recall when I installed my silver one. I got pliers in there to pull of the stocker.

yes, these nuts are a soft type of alloy surrounded by some sticky stuff. Once installed the very wide threads on the posts of the emblem mark the soft nuts. They cannot be reused. I used a long no 8 socket and put some sticky stuff on it like blue tack or something. Locktight maybe? Worked fine. I was afraid of dropping one of the new ones in these holes... Tough to get out with the hood up in an angle.

Here is mine, not silver but black. detail is a bit lost in the low quality pics

Looks great. I'd say it was well worth the time and effort.
