Running E85? Got some questions
Running E85? Got some questions
Hey guys,
Strongly considering going this route with a Proto setup.
Will start with tune and injectors on my current setup which is fabspeed headers, 200 cell cats and exhaust. Clutch would be done before this.
Further down the line I'd have the VTGs extruded, and maybe a set of intercoolers.
I was thinking of getting Todds E85 tune and 93 octane tune to be able to switch back and fourth with the laptop. I fear being stuck with an e85 only car in case I need to take a longer trip in non e85 regions.
1) What kind of mileage are you guys averaging on E85 with the 83lbs injectors?
2) For those who have the ability to return to the 93 is the gas mileage stock like? And what does this power feel like?
3)I know dynos are only tools, but what sort of whp and tq are you seeing. I know guys are doing sub 6 60 to 130s, which is really moving.
4) What clutch are you guys running?
5) Would you do it again??

Is 17 your average of city/highway, or best you're seeing? What do you see on the highway?
So you have both tunes, but you need to sit down with laptop plugged in to make the switch. Correct? You're talking on the fly switching.

Deep 5s is nuts. Gotta check that out
You will love it, E85 + FI = cheating. You can run tons of boost on E85, it has better cooling properties and is very knock resistant. One thing to keep in mind is that it is actually E70 in the winter in the colder climates and it DOES change your tune considerably. We have noticed in Minnesota this year that a large chunk of the stations left it at E70 even through the summer, which means a drop from 35 psi to 29 psi in the Mitsu's.
I just sold my 2010 Zr1 and have been thinking of doing an e85 tt. What kind of upgrades does it take to run e85? we were getting 100 hp on zr1s.

Which companies does 997TT E85 tuning? I had a 335i beemer with upgraded intercooler and downpipes running on a E85/94oct mix (and methanol injection) and E85 was a thrill to play with.
Would love to be able to run E85 in the 911!

Protomotive or Switzer
Im just switching all my system over to run the E85 But up here we don't have it. (90 mile drive to closest one) I opted to run the C85 from VP which is $2.00-$3.00 more per Gallon but it is consistent and has made more power on the dyno.
I hope to have actually numbers soon to compare.
Never knew that we could remap between E85 and 93 pump. I thought it was to difficult with the big injectors and regulator.
