Flatbedded Turbo S!
Flatbedded Turbo S!
Was out for a ride in the curvy secondary Missouri back roads today & thought I noticed a throttle surge; I thought nothing of it until I noticed the Turbo S to be uncharacteristically sluggish out of the next hard curve. I was making 1 psi of boost & no matter how hard I tried to accelerate, 1 psi was it! No check engine lights, no messages in the info center either. Got home & parked in front of the garage to look up any info in the manual (I know - a waste of time). Went to start up to pull in the garage & the boost gauge shows 17 psi before I even cranked her over. Then the engine fired off only to immediately shut down again. Did this 3 or 4 times before I called 1800Porsche for a flatbed. Any ideas? Sure glad I made it home! First car I've ever owned that left me stranded!
Check one of the hoses that connects the intercooler to the the turbo. I had the exact same problem last weekend at Sebring. As it turns out the left hose came dislodged and I lost the clamp. Very easy fix if that is what it is. Look under the left and right rear and see if the hose has become lose or completely dislodged.

I got under & checked; all intake hoses on both sides are secure. I tried to start it again after it sat a couple hours & this time it continued to run. But I did get a solid lit check engine light now. I'm going to go ahead & let the flatbed haul it in as I am 45 miles away from the dealer & don't want any roadside issues.
Flatbed just picked it up. I'll see what the dealer in STL says on Monday.

Well, I got my Turbo S back today from the shop. Turns out that there was an issue with the turbo pressure sensor connector. The connector was "repaired" per the warranty operation.
I find it odd that such a fault would render the car to a state of complete failure like it did, but I suppose these days of electronics dictate such.
Has anyone had this issue before that I may have missed elsewhere in the forum?
