In the last week or so the car ! comes on and reads I need air in the tires. But a different tire every day it reads -4 are my sensors going BAD?

Yes, My car was doing the same thing. CPO car Porsche replaced all sensors. My battery life said 0 at dealer with there software, even though durametic said 12 months. Works perfect now..

 

Glad to hear that those sensors are covered by the CPO-mine is an 08-I hope they die in the next two years. I wonder, If one goes, will they replace them all or go about it one at time?

 

I would say one at a time. Warranty work is only performed after a failure, it's not preventative.

 

Learned through the forum that the battery life on the tirepressure sensors is around 5 years. When the battery on any of the sensors weakens, it throws the dreadful "TPS Inactive" code on the on-board computer. Even if you reset it, the system will not "learn" and you will continue to have the red exclamation point and the amber tire pressure warning light on the dashboard.

I took my 2007 Turbo to Wheel Enhancement in Los Angeles and they replaced all 4 sensors with new sensors, Porsche part# 997.606.021.01. They carefully removed the tires, broke the bead and reached in and removed the old sensors and installed the new ones.

Wheel Enhancement is awesome, they made sure that there would be no scratches on the rims and their work was flawless! I dealt with Dave Martin. Not a cheap fix ($600) but well worth it to me since I like to have everything working correctly. After I drove off from their driveway, the computer reset itself and the warning lights went off and I was back in business with the TPMS working perfectly. Wheel Enhancement is a forum sponsor and I give them the thumbs up ShopTPMS is another sponsor and they have the sensors too. You can mail order the sensors and have them installed by any reputable tire dealer in Florida. I would just do all 4 at once, your 2007 Turbo is probably out of warranty unless it has some kind of CPO, etc.

 

I,found out the problem was weather related not a senor issue. But I do know when the senors start to go they will let you know. It really bother's me when the TPS warning light on your dash lights up I don't know how people can drive around with it on.

Likely referring to the colder air resulting in lower tire pressure. Every 10 degrees F results in roughly 1 psi of tire pressure change. For example, if the temperature falls from 70F to 50F, one could expect roughly 2 psi in tire pressure drop.

I had the same problem with two vehicles over the weekend.

 

I am going through this problem now with my 07 tt. They say the sensors have around 29 months worth of battery life but I am getting failure light every few weeks. They had my car for three days last week and will not replace the sensor until it completely fails and then it will only be that sensor not all four. Joy!! I wish I knew a way to drian the batteries down.

 

Well that sucks.... I'd just buy 4 new ones and have them put them in. The damn light is annoying... then I'd find another dealership if possible!

 

I had the same issue. Stealership wanted $1,000 to replace all 4 TPC sensors. Had my local Indy guy do it for a A LOT cheaper. And found out that it only needed 2 sensors NOT 4.
