It is possible the car was damaged in shipment. In 1986 I bought a new Mercedes 560 SEL. You could see it had some paintwork yet car was new. After some investigating I found that car companies do not have to divulge any work done to the car at the port before delivery to the dealer. Explained the long time period between arrival at port and delivery to the dealer.

 

I've also heard of this before and it usually is a minor paint issue that happens during transportation and gets repaired at the arrival port. This could have happened but I don't think the port would have taken both doors off for a minor repair and put it back together the way that it looks. Either way, I wasn't paying $160k for a car with suspicious history.
