Help with purchase of pre-owned 997.1/used 997.1 pricing

I have been looking at a used 997.1 for awhile. I found one near me in florida for sale, just wanted to see what everyone thought about it from a price stand point. The car will be a weekend car, so I will not put too many miles on it. http://www.genxmotors.com/2724/2007-Porsche-911-Turbo The car is 07 with low miles, dealer claims it has been inspected. The carfax is clean with no accidents and has 3 owners previous. I will get a full inspection report (ppi). Anything else I should be cautious of? Anyone have any thoughts on car? How are the pricing for 997.1 with low miles? I would prefer under 30k miles..I have read several good things about the 997.1, of course I would like a new one but due to pricing of this car I would feel more comfortable to stay under 80K. Thanks for input

Has anyone had any experience with awe tuning exhaust and software that they could share with me? Is the exhaust perform better? Sound good? Any long term problems with these upgrades? Thank!

Nice car and good price. The only thing I don't like is the aftermarket stereo, but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't let that stop me from buying it though if it were me. I havnt heard too much about AWE, but Champion is in Florida and there really nice, knowledgeable, and make quality products. Ask for Tom! Super nice guy. There's a lot of other good companies out there if your open to ordering out of state.

from the pics and options the car looks great and the price is very fair. You are basically getting the various upgrade for a pretty good discount. looks like you found a winner

get a PPI to make sure everything checks out mechanically

good luck

So, the only thing that bugs me about the ad is that the dealership has no idea what the audio components are, despite them having logos on them. That is an older Pioneer deck, not Alpine and Alpine doesn't make the subwoofers. The faceplate doesn't seem to fit that well, wonder if it's a hack wiring job, too. There are a couple of good solutions out there for replacing the factory stereo stuff, and you either have to rip out everything or get a MOST bus interface. Also the steering wheel controls for the stereo probably won't work either.

And, I've never seen a turbo without heated seats. Kind of strange for someone to do a delete on them, although it's possible. And little things, like in the picture of the subwoofers, it's clear that the rear seatbelts have been pinched in the latches. it's really minor, but speaks to being slightly careless. I'd definitely get a PPI.

I tend to be overly ****, though. might be fine.

Thanks for the responses! I was hoping someone would have experience with awe tuning to give me some input. The dealer seems very flexible with price (under 70K) which is by far best price vs miles in FL. I get a little nervous with a non porsche dealer, but it does seem like a pretty solid car for a good price if everything checks out. I am in southwest florida (sarasota/tampa area), is anyone familiar with scott's shop in sarasota? It seems like a small local porsche mechanic. Thanks again

I love the colour however I enjoy making a car my own rather than inheriting someone elses vision of what a 997TT should be. I would move on and find a stock setup that you can tune and tweak as you like. You learn so much about your car in the process of adding your tweaks. The aftermarket deck and subs kill it for me.

My two cents.

I'm a fan of the color although I prefer a darker interior. I'm with the above who don't like the aftermarket stereo. I'm no Audiophile, but the stock setup is loud and clean. You'll lose some functionality with trip computer and a few other things available via the stock head unit.

Definitely get a PPI, because a lower mileage car at under $70k may have cause for concern.

what's up scott? hope all is well, need to catch up again soon. Looking forward to hearing your new exhaust set up.

btw, agree with this assessment. A dealer selling 20K mile TT under $70K, make sure PPI is uber clean

Deals that seem too good to be true, usually are. Panel repaints also reduce value. Need to paint meter each panel. And overrevs.
