6 speed or Tiptronic?
Really thats good to hear. What are the limits and can you build them to hold the power?
Going in, it was an uphill battle for the automatic. Our test car weighed 3584 pounds, a 70-pound penalty compared with the manual. Furthermore, the automatic launches without much wheelspin, unlike the manual, and it therefore doesn't get off the line as swiftly. We hit 30 mph in 1.3 seconds, which is 0.2-second off the manual's pace. But that early deficit is overcome by the Tiptronic's smooth and quick wide-open-throttle upshifts which keep the turbos spooled up, unlike what happens when you lift to shift in the manual. By 60 mph, that lost time is made up and the Tiptronic matches the manual car's 3.4-second blast. From there, it continues to gain ground and edges out the manual in the quarter-mile by a scant 0.1 second—11.6 seconds at 122 mph versus 11.7 at 121—and it stays ahead the rest of the way, hitting 160 mph in 22.1 seconds versus 23.8. In case you're wondering, that quarter-mile time is better than the quickest 505-hp Corvette Z06 we've tested.
MOST RAGS got 3.2 with the tip vs 3.4-3.7 with the 6sp. I am hoping the Overseas guys will chime in. They have some sick tips. Are you looking for a time number or a HP number? If you are looking for a time number the guys from Turkey and Greece can help you.
HP number You should get a 6sp. It wont mean anything but a placard but that is up to you

I will probably pick up a 993 or something and my classic cars will be a manual, but I do not think I will ever buy a 6spd porsche.
Good points. I would just be going for mph and time iv done the hp game and iv seen cars with way less power beat up on big power cars. Its all about a good setup in my opinion.
The 911TT tip is no , no frills 140 cessna, its a very fast stable car for the street. I am not driving it to the ragged edge on the street but it sure is fun enjoying some twisties and feeling the power and road. Heck even an off ramp is fun trying to find the best line.
I am sure Lewis Hamilton would be impressed to know that he isnt a true driver because he doesnt have a 3rd pedal thought
right a tip isnt a PDK, but a tip can still shift faster than a human
i had tip turbo with 68mm VTG turbos with TCU upgrade / tune,
with TPC 775 tune/intercooler etc etc blah blah blah.
end of the day, the tip was STILL slipping with 650+ at the wheel,
hated for the LIFE!!! and it was HARD to sell just because it was TIP.
now I have 6spd turbo with simple tune and exhaust etc, I LOVE MINE.
I might be a little young to complain about driving traffic with manual car, but hey, I will NEVER EVER get a automatic porsche if you are intend to driving it. (other than PDK of course if they are proven to hold POWER)

The fastest 60-130 997.1 Turbo with a built engine is a tiptronic.
The fastest 60-130 997.1 Turbo with stock internals is a tiptronic.
With times in the mid 3s, you can easily guess how much power those engines are making. With a proper Tiptronic upgrade, you should be able to manage daily driving and handle high power modifications.

That all sounds great but what kind of funds does it take to keep a Tip together with that kind of power. Have you guys been on the GTR side i have really thought hard about a GTR but everyone i know thats had one has already sold it they dont keep them long at all.
I've read (and heard) that the GTR pretty much destroys the 997TT on 0-60... that being said isn't part of the allure of Porsche the fact that they still offer the "archaic" manual transmission that is so much more fun to drive? Anyone can be a hero in the straightaways...
