PKF 08 Turbo is infamous around these parts
DME on a CPO car

Brand new to the forum, have a 06 Carrera S and am looking at a CPO 08 Turbo in Los Angeles

I am being told by my Dealer that a DME check is performed during the certification process and cars are not certified if there is a problem.
Is this accurate?

B.S get the report. In fact have them run a report on the car today so that you have current data as the report they give you may have been printed before the guys at the dealer went for a few joy rides.

My 08 was purchased with CPO. I asked for and received a DME readout and there were over-revs in all ranges (single digits in ranges 4 - 6 all occurring sometime in 2009). Dealer still CPO'd the car and I wanted the DME to show that the over-revs existed at time of CPO.

I think if there are over-revs it's at pcna discretion to Cpo a car.

Stupid question but all this DME overrev stuff only matters for a manual right? My understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is the tiptronic will always shift, even in manual mode, to avoid dangerous overrevs.

That's the theory but my info is a Tip (and a PDK?) car can suffer from over revs if the car is being driven down a hill.

Get a DME over rev with engine run time read out/print out regardless of the car's transmission.

I got the DME run and there are 400 in number 1, 230 in number 2, and 0 in 3,4,5,6... I did a search on DME reports and it looks like those are pretty good numbers. Thanks again for the advice.
