1/2 mile event in PR

Hi guys,

Wanted to talk to you about an event we have here 3 to 4 times a year on the island of the fastest street/exotic cars we have in Puerto Rico. This event takes place on an airport where we run just half mile looking for the highest mph.

I own the Cayman that haves the TPC stage 2 turbo kit with 480 whp. Please let me know what do you Turbo owners think of it. None of the cars in this list is stock including every TT.

Looks like it was a well attended event!! Have you looked at our Shift S3ctor Airstrip attack videos?

Is the PRhalfmile a standing start? Airstrip Attack was a rolling start which was a roll anywhere from 20mph to 60mph. I believe our ending speeds were slower than yours. Any idea what wheel horsepower the 997 had that trapped 180mph? Was it an all wheel or rear wheel only drive?

It is a standing start and you race another car if you wanted from a standing or rolling start, but if you wanted to go for your ending speed competition had to be from a standing. The 997tt that made 180mph is in all wheel drive and the car doesn't have a kit, the guy who build it is a very named tuner here in the island and is has aftermarket turbos with his own tune he made.

Haven't seen the airstrip attack, is it half mile event too ?

Yes, half mile rolling start. Take a look at you tube, type in shift s3ctor airstrip attack 11/10/2012.
They were not setup for electronic monitoring so ending speed was what the drivers observed on their speedometers. The black Ford GT, at 1100-1200hp, spun its wheels almost the entire length. He said he trapped at 170.
How was traction at your event? Most every rear wheel drive car had trouble with wheel spin at the Airstrip Attack.

The traction on the car is great ! Good width of tires plus perfect tires in my opinion. Watched the video and great event you have there. Maybe one day I travel the car and attend to the event.

What car do you drive ?

I have a 2007 TT. Modifications are Champion 68mm turbos, IPD plenum and Y-tube, GT2.2 intercoolers, GMG headers, AWE exhaust, GIAC mapping on ECU and Tiptronic.
Started with the headers and exhaust back in 07 then this year did the latest mods. Perhaps more later but that is dependent upon my Tip needing strengthening. If the engine comes out that will prompt me to do other mods.
We have another Airstrip Attack coming up March or April, like yours it was great fun!!

Merry Christmas!!!!!

Thumbs up 1/2 Mile

I actually flew down to be at the event since I grew up in the island myself. The 997 TT had a combination of things installed on them that came from various sources including us. The guy that did the work is my old time friend Oscar Velez
He and I go way back into the early 80's.
Congratulations on a well done job my friend.

Cheers
