Angry Why me??? Help Needed!!!

I took my GT2 out yesterday for a spin. I was cruising on the Interstate about 75 yards behind a large truck. Without warning, the truck lifted a large piece of sheet metal up into the air, like a leaf falling off a tree. There was a car to my left, so I couldn't change lanes. The sheet metal hit my rear quarter panel next to the air intake. Although it didn't bust the quarter panel, it caused numerous deep gouges into the paint. Many of the gouges go through the primer. I cried when I saw the damage. I really pamper this car. I have pictures, and I'll try to post them. My questions are: 1. Does the whole quarter panel need to be repainted or can the small section be taken care and blended in well with the native color? 2. Anybody have a recommendation for reputable painter/body shop in San Antonio, Tx? Thanks.

a detailer can fill these in and polish them to 95% without needing to paint the whole panel. Especially in such a light color. Give it a shot.
Sorry to hear I would have felt the same.

Sorry this happened to your car. Glad you were not hurt. It is indeed a sickening feeling when things like this happen that are beyond your control. Get it fixed - she'll be good as new.

I'm sure a good detail or body shop can fix it and no will be able to notice. I recently had a dent and scratch repaired and painted on my brand new 2012 jeep and it's a perfect match. Years ago I was driving in my 1985 Porsche 928 behind a guy hauling a pop up trailer when he went over a bump and a brick that was resting between the trailer's bumper and the trailer bounced out onto the highway and then up into the air landing on top of the right fender. It literally left a depression in the fender the size of the brick. Good luck with the repair, I feel your pain.

Spoke to couple of reputable paint and body shops recommended by my local dealer. Each one told me that the entire panel and part of the door would need repainting. I went back and looked hard and noticed some denting. Is the rear panel metal or composite materials? Looks like I'll have to get insurance involved. The deductible plus the depreciation are going to make this one very costly mishap.

You may even have grounds to sue for the depreciation, since serious negligence is involved. I'm not a lawyer, but you might consider talking to one.

Were you able to get a license plate on the truck? Since it flew off the truck, that truck is liable for damages.

given the color, a good shop could blend the paint w/o the need for spraying the entire area.

Lastly, if youre truely OCD, it may be worth it to use http://www.stuartspnb.com/ in Dallas.
