Porsche Edition 918 Spyder gets the AWE Tuning treatment.

We have a lot of cool cars roll through the shop at AWE Tuning, but this has to be one of the best we have ever seen. Simply put, the contrast of the Basalt Black exterior paint and Acid Green accents of this Turbo S are striking. Naturally, Acid Green details can also be found throughout the inside in the form of interior stitching, illuminated door sills, piping on the seats, gauge details, and the stripe found at top dead center of the Leather covered steering wheel. To sum it up, this car promised to never get lost in a crowd.

A client of ours was lucky enough to get his hands on a 918 Edition Spyder Turbo S, but luckily for us, he just couldn’t leave it alone.

First up was G.I.A.C. Software, which got things off on the right foot. Gains of 50hp and 66ft/lb tq helped to transform the car, but something was still missing. For a client familiar with the soundtrack of American V8s and race cars, it wasn’t difficult to diagnose- the car was lacking in the sound department.

Off came the factory Turbo S exhaust, to make way for an AWE Tuning Porsche 997.2TT Performance Exhaust for use with the OE Tips. Not only will the AWE Tuning system make this Edition 918 Spyder sound like a car of its performance levels should, but will also save 12lbs and contribute an additional 15hp and 22ft/lb tq to the car’s power figures.

To begin installation, the car was put on one of our lifts and its rear end was cosmetically disassembled to allow access to the full exhaust. The stock piece was removed so the new AWE Tuning exhaust could take its place. Each AWE Tuning system is built in-house and fixtured to ensure perfect fitment each time, making the installation a straight-forward task.

The system was bolted onto the car and began to take shape. The time and effort put into each piece by our fabrication team really shines as the exhaust is assembled with minimal adjustments, and ensures that this system is worthy of the quality that is associated with the AWE Tuning name.

When the AWE Tuning Porsche 997.2TT Performance Exhaust is all bolted together and centered on the vehicle, the rear end is reassembled and the car is taken out for a test drive. While we do not have footage of this particular test drive, it sounded like this:

Another happy customer.

See how you can make your 997.2TT sound this good, right here.

Any dyno testing done on this car? From what I've seen, ~530whp is about the norm for a tune & exhaust on a TTS.

We dyno'd the car before doing the exhaust install on G.I.A.C.'s 'Race' program with 100 octane fuel and it did 530whp.

We were on a pretty tight delivery schedule with the client, so unfortunately no time to do dyno pulls after the exhaust. The 918 Edition Turbo S did 530hp at the wheels on GIAC's 100 octane program, and we have seen similar cars gain an additional 16hp and 14tq at the wheels from the AWE Tuning exhaust for use with stock tips.
