Please don't think me a wisea**, but you should probably spend some more time with the car before driving it the way you describe. Get used to the shifter, clutch and throttle before something worse happens, like the monkey (money) shift described by others--5th to 2nd.

JMHO,
LP

I agree. The TT shift is different from the '08 M3 I traded for it.

I bought my 08 TT with 15,000 miles and over revs in ranges 1-4. Since then I've put another 15,000 miles on the engine - never a problem, no oil consumption, no unusual noises - strong, strong engine.

Agreed with the above. I come from an 08' M3 also and the turbo reaches the redline way quicker than the m3 did. I have been taking my time getting to know the car, clutch, etc.

you are right about this! checked my DME at the dealer today and it registered very few ignitions in range4. And ignitions in range 1,2 &3 at the same operating hr as range 4 which shows no gear selection. The engine has since run for about 7 hrs. No problems so far and it still pulls like crazy. Definitely gonna do a warranty extension so gonna have to do the compression and leak tests. Ignitions inRR4 less than 10 btw.

Tech said they will have to send values to the factory and Germany and the decision rests in their hands. What is the usual outcome as i am sure few people on here have cars with ignitions in RR4

Should have seen the faces of the tech's surrounding my car during the readout. As though my car had contracted some STD's

Your dealer is only doing a compression and leak down test because you are ready to pay for it and they are happy to take your money Just realized you're referring to a factory CPO warranty which hopefully includes the costs of the tests in the CPO process... If they were honest with you they would echo the sentiments you have seen in this thread IMO - I find it hard to believe this was the first time the techs saw a 997TT with a few ignitions in Range 4 especially as these cars are getting older.
