Problem please help, GT2RS conversion - SpecG 997.2 Turbo S

Hi guys,

Just joined the community

Also just picked up a 997.2 Turbo S with 9ff mods..1800miles. She was all wrapped in matt white before and I just stripped her naked to her skin, washed her and..she so smooth and fresh.

For now, I'm planning to put the stock front and rear bumpers back on..and also center lock RS wheels I think.

Here some photos of her

Thanks guys.. I'm glad to join, I have a lot to catch up..still learning a lot about this great Porsche.

I'm planning to get a remap.. is GIAC the best option for me?

I did Softronic remap on my 2012 Turbo and worked great. The benefit is you get the original file and can set the car back to stock anytime you like. Also you can remap the car and set back to stock at your own house on your own laptop. With the GIAC, they give you a flasher to select between different maps...but the software is hard coded into the ECU and all the handheld flasher does is selects which mapping to use. Your ecu is not technically back to original form.

Thanks for your reply. For now I decided to keep the 9ff tune and upgrade to champion intercoolers and the IPD plenum.. and will see how she drives.

Got the wheels, center lock kit (black), and the tires.. these are GT2RS wheels and tires specification. I am doing the complete GT2RS conversion with all factory parts.

The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup
245/35 19 25.8in
325/30 19 26.7in

I am not sure if the tire diameter from the GT2RS will cause any problems to the turbo 4wd system.. if anyone has any experience please lend me a hand.

EDIT -

Ok i just found out that the stock Turbo tires are

235/35 19 25.5in and 305/30 19 26.3in which makes them 0.8in diff. and the GT2RS has 0.9in diff.. so I think I might get away with it.

Very nicely done. Just curious, what rear wing did the car come with? Are you selling the 9ff carbon bonnet?

Well one sunday drive, and my carbon Werks Y pipe has split at the seams.. pathetic, waste of money and time. to be honest I had the feeling this is a weak part and I wasnt wrong. (moreover, the inner surface is hardly smooth)

fyi, clamps were torqued at 4.6nm.. boosting at 18-19psi

Outstanding work. I'm currently doing a similar conversion on my turbo so I know that conversion has cost you a fortune with all original parts!!! The carbon fenders alone must have been about $8000! Impressive conversion, well done.

Did you have to change much at the front to get the bumper to fit?

Why did you buy a 9ff modded Porsche and then convert it back to stock? lol
Didn't it already have a 9ff tune on it? You switched it to a GIAC tune?

Thanks for the kind words. yes it all costed quite a bit!

The fronts needed new center radiator and frame, all three air ducts, additional top air duct and removal of front impact polystyrene. The headlamp spray mounting (on the front bumper) was impossible to find so I had to fab a pair out of aluminium.

good question..although not exactly back to stock..lol..

I bought the 9ff at the price of standard Turbo S. At the time, the 9ff had 3000km and fully wrapped in white since delivery. So it was in pristine condition (coating wise). I hated the bodykit and wheels etc on the 9ff so I wanted to revert to original looks (but with 9ff engine and suspension mod still on).

Originally decided to go center locks with normal Turbo S bodykit but then my bro pressured me to go full GT2RS.. so I did lol.. and here we are a frankenstein Turbo S.

It is still running full 9ff ECU, Turbos, manifolds.
