Interior light fade-out time adjustment!

The light just above the interior mirror, stays on for about 2 minutes after closing the door.

I looked into the PCM manual, "setting light options", fade-out time. But this refers to time for tail lights and front fog lights. Not interior light/lamp above the mirror!

Anyone know how to adjust the time it takes for the interior light to come off!

Thanks.

From memory i remember the exterior and interior fade out time can be adjusted on the same screen. I have PCM 3 and there is an option for 'individual memory' setting that you can access via the INFO tab. Hope this helps.

The fade out setting is for the interior lights, not the exterior lights. There's a "Home" option for the exterior lights. If you have Sports Chrono you can access this option in the PCM - Main screen, push the Set button and then go into individual settings, one of which is lights. I think you drill down one more menu and you get the fade out options.

Thanks guys. I'm still trying to figure this interior light thing.

In owner's manual (and PCM manual), they refer to two kinds of lights.

Interior lights: the ones above the mirror, i.e. at the ceiling. Used to illuminate the interior of car, from foot well to reading, etc. They are switched off with a delay of 2 minutes, "after" doors are closed. No mention of time adjustment (i.e. no less than 2 min)!

Orientation light: a light emitting diode at the bottom of the interior mirror, used to improve orientation in the passenger compartment when it is dark. Brightness of which can be changed via PCM.

Guess Porsche genius missed to devise a way, simple tech stuff, getting the damn Interior Lights to switch off at a shorter time than 2 mins! Now that's "incredible"!

They should go off as soon as you arm the car.

Exactly. Yet since I do not use, or park car outside of my home area, no need to use remote key (immobilizer), which would - as you said - instantly turns off the interior lights.

But when a car is not driven much, to begin with, only concern is with 'dead batteries'. Not interested in using battery charger. Purchased two in past, proved useless, with old no hi-tech power sucking Porsches).

Just gona have to accept the 2 min lights off delay*.

Cheers!

* BTW, not only interior lights stay on for the duration, but foot well, door entry guard, all dials/instrument panel are ON as well

Don't give up on a battery maintainer - much different than a charger...and you don't have to buy the high-priced, Porsche-badged unit. You can get a Battery Tender at most auto parts stores - I've used them with never a problem on motorcycles and Porsches

You could toggle the switch to the right and the light won't come on at all. I would assume when you do drive the car it would be more daylight driving. Just a thought if you don't drive it much.

Crazy thread...I was JUST wondering the same thing for the same reason. My thought is it takes more power to lock the doors once than run the lights for two minutes. The only thing I could do to make me feel better was, I of course, changed the parking light time "on" to 10 seconds...via the head unit and I also replaced the interior lights w LED's that draw half the power if the OEM light bulbs. So far so good...
