Tom what tire pressures were you running? Just curious how to get the best launch with our stock tires.

Tom,
Can you tell me what tire set up front and rear you were running on the S in the video?
Also, were the runs with or without LC?

I have the same exact setup and will be taking the car to the track on Sunday, weather permitting

In the video at the start of this thread the car was running factory Michelin Pilot Sport II tires, with about 22psi in the rear tires. All the runs were with LC. We tried a few times without and the times just aren't close.

Later, when we revised the software, we were able to run much faster. A few times we used drag tires on the rear wheels only. That was the setup used when we ran 9.8.

Thanks, that's what I thought. You don't happen to remember which size and brand DR they were do you? I was poking around and couldn't really find anything close to what I thought would be an ideal size. I'd love to break into the 9s this weekend

I have friends with Toyo R888 with GTR's and claimed they have no issue hooking up 600-700 WHP. That is what I am going to go with myself as you can get them in stock sizes.

Agreed. The R888's hook pretty well, except when they're really cold. Skip the burnout box though...drive around the water and do a quick short launch to heat them up before you stage. I just finished a Turbo S with our complete package that we're hoping to see break our old 9.8 sec record really soon. It's running R888's and previously had a best time of 10.1 when it was about 300 lbs heavier. It's a Northeast car too...right up in your area.

Is his name Chris too by any chance? I saw there is another Chris with a Turbo S competing in the Reach Out Roll out event on April 5th.

Nope...it's not a Chris, but I believe he'll be at that event.

I'm giving it a shot as well Tom. Exhaust and intercoolers went in today. I pick it up tomorrow and head over to GIAC for reflash. Just need to find another private track rental soon before it gets too hot out here.

If I can find a C7 S6 to drive, maybe a trip to Sacramento is inline?

Tom what am I doing wrong with my launches. Even with PSM off it still seems to be active. When I do a launch my car it feels like she is going to go and as soon as there are some wheel spin the ecu causes motor to shut down momentarily. This happens even with PSM off but not as intrusive as when it is on. Is there a way to totally disable PSM? If the ecu would just let the car pull I am sure I could get a decent run.

I think I found the answer in this thread so how are you getting around this?

hmmm, that sounds really strange. The launch control process is pretty simple and it sounds like you're doing it right. Just put the car in Sport Plus mode, turn off PSM, hold down the brake and FLOOR the gas until you see "launch control active" light up, then let go of the brake. As long as traction control is off it should take off like a bat of hell!!

I'd say take a quick ride to your dealer...sounds like their may be an issue with the car. Maybe take a ride with your service adviser or a salesman to show them what it's doing..
