Problems with Techart. Please beware!!
Dear 6speeders,
Last month I decided to go for an OEM facelifted rear end for my 997.1 turbo. I ordered a brand new rear bumper, a brand new Europipe conversion exhaust 65mm diameter to fit the new mk2 exhaust tips and finally a set of clear glass rear LED tail lights from Techart. I decided to chose Techart for my set of Led lights because they are plug&play. No control units are needed and no coding at all. I liked the idea of modifying my car myself so I went ahead and bought a set of TA plug&play Led lights. I transfered the money to all suppliers including Techart in the 28th of February. All parts were here within 5 days time apart from the LED lights from Techart. Then I sent an e-mail to Techart and in more specific to Mr. Lanoue who had actually sold the part to me. Never got an answer.
In the meantime I took my old bumper out, painted the new one and installed the exhaust. I had to find out where my (1500 Euro) lights were. I contacted Mr. Lanoue again. Absolutely no response. I decided to contact someone else then just in case something was wrong with that specific salesman. So I sent an e-mail to Mr Christiansen. He got back to me one day later saying that my lights will be sent in the 18th of March (11 days ago). I was annoyed, because they didn't say they were out of stock or anything else so I asked why they take so long. I never got an answer again. Anyway, I decided to wait. In the 19th of March on Tuesday last week I sent an e-mail asking about the shipping date. Mr lanoue the first saleman sent me an e-mail and mentioned that the lights will be sent next week! I was really upset! They didn't bother at all! Now it's the 29th of March and I still haven't received my set nor I got any replies to my e-mails again. I asked for a refund immediately. Still NO REPLY!!! I really don't know what to do. This is by far the worst people and the worst company ever! Please be really careful with this company, because I heard some really bad comments from other people too. Unfortunately I got this information too late. I don't know if I lost my money but I think they are going down in business.
I am terribly sorry for the long post and the details that could be tiresome, but I am really upset!!

its news to me that Techart even makes rear taillights for the 997 Turbo, do you have any link of them you can send? EDIT, found them:

This is not the first time members have had difficulty working with TechART directly. I probably would have been better to work with a US distributor, several of our sponsors are authorized distributors.
I'd see if one of the sponsors have contact info or can make an inquiry on your behalf.

That's not good. I haven't dealt with techart directly so I can't tell how responsive they are. However, I have dealt with their direct competitor, Cargraphic, directly. All emails were answered within 24 hours and the shipping estimates were always on the ball. For a premium Porsche tuner, this kind of CS is not acceptable. Luckily, in the US, we have some great dealers for TA like Sharkwerks that could resolve my problems quickly!
Just FYI, you could have bought a set of OEM tail lights and get the FVD module instead:

It would not have cost you 1500 Euros since the full kit from Suncoast is only 1400 US plus shipping.

I chose Techart's product because it doesn't require anything else apart from a screw driver. They are also closer to me and the product wouldn't go through customs. Also no coding is needed at all. A Porsche dealer is far away from me so visiting him would actually cost me way more than 1500 Euro in total. Well, at the end of the day I was wrong... things didn't really turn out as planned obviously. Thanks for your input!!
You are absolutely right. In the US you are very lucky to have a lot of professionals by your side. US customer service is unbelievably good in general. Dealing with professionals is a big advantage.
