gibbonsc4s has a spectacular aura aboutgibbonsc4s has a spectacular aura about
Insurance!

dont know to how many this applies, and im not proud but - after 16 years with a pristine driving record, my first 911 (the c4s in my avatar) got me into enough trouble that, when i called my insurance to tell them about my upgrade to the 2013 tt - they promptly told me

1- they would not insure me in the turbo for any price
2- when my insurance came up for renewal, they would not renew it for any price.

fortunately my porsche dealer had a contact that set something up for me........... for $7800 per year!!!!!

woe is me, and yes i know that you reap what you sow.

don't feel so bad, it may have a bit to do with your driving record with the c4s but there are many insurance companies that will not cover cars with hp levels beyond a certain point (500 hp) or with extremely expensive repair costs. For example, I've been with Mercury for 10+ years and have had a very clean driving record and only 1 claim in 10 years. But they wouldn't cover my cobra or my 997 turbo so I had to finally switch and went with Geico, they claimed too much power and costly repairs as the reason they wouldn't cover the cars

Shop around. Allstate is very reasonable on my 997tt. In fact it's cheaper than my BMW 335d. I pay $187 month for 3 cars: 07 997tt, 11 335d, 04 m3. I'm 33, clean record

Yikes!

When I traded my '12 C2S for an '11 TTS, my insurance only went up $23 per month.

Geico charges me under $1400/year for my 997TT and B7 Audi S4 Avant. Clean driving record here too.

Insurance prices very greatly due to geography... I have a clean record, 38, professional, yada yada and I pay about $1600 a year for insurance. I also pretty much maxed my policy limits, etc.

He's in Canada... not even sure how it works up there... seems everything is more $$.

That being said, I don't think I'd want to shell out 6-7 hundred a month on insurance alone. Yikes.

SBTTS is infamous around these parts
I pay a little over $1200 per year in Orange County, CA (not the cheapest place for insurance) on my 12 TTS 918 Edition with State Farm. I have a decent record, 1 speed about 5 years ago, but have multi-line, and multi-car discounts. It's best to insure cars and home with same carrier. I carry $100 deductible on comp, and $500 on collision---know I could save a few bucks by increasing deductibles, but happy with premium.
