About to buy

Hey there,

I have an opportunity to purchase a Canadian 2008 turbo cab. There doesn't seem to be many options, except for Navi. There isnt xm or bluetooth. If I get the VIN number, is there a way to get the build specs of the car as it was?

I am curious as the car is article silver. The lower skirts and bumper lips are black plastic non painted. That kind of indicated to me that it could be a base model Turbo?

Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something not obvious like upgrade adaptive headlight or something along that line

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey man - welcome to the family - almost. I know there is a dealer online where you can submit the VIN and get the specs within a few hours - $10. For the life of me I can't recall the dealer. For a bit more you can also do this.

Does not seem like you are buying from a dealer? (Obviously the dealer could run the reports for you and provide them). Additionally - you should probably invest in a Durametric and run that on the car as well.

Sounds Great Rich and thanks for the welcome. You are correct. i have buddy that changes cars like underwear. He leases the car through another buddy of ours that i have my M3 lease with. So, i guess you can say, it's all in the family.

Should know for sure by this Sunday

Sweet! - I swapped out of an M5 into the 997.1 tt - probably the best trade I've ever done. Dare I say - I'm actually satisfied...finally!

Nice. Always great to fulfill a dream. Taking me a little longer as my kids love the m3. They knew the 911 wasn't going to fit them and they love the top down experience. So I am keeping the M along side the TT.

I had a SCed e46 vert and my kids loved it too. But they love the TT more now because they got rear seats back.

You took out the rear seats for weight savings? Or to make room for the N02 canisters! What SC did you go with HPF, activewerks? I am only asking as I may want to sc the M later on

The lower skirts and bumper lips were not painted standard, those were options. 911 Turbos in Canada came standard with a number of items that were optional in the US. The options for the car are shown on a white sticker under the front hood (series of 3 digit numbers) and these can be decoded. I have tried Suncoast but couldn't get the $10 service to work on-line. If it doesn't work for you either it might be worth a call to see if it can be done for a Canadian car.

I meant SC M3 -> Z06 -> 997TT.
I had a AA Gen6 HKS kit. I made 420whp and it's very reliable kit.

Hey. One other question. Is there any common issues that you guys are aware of? For instance, with the M3, there were vanos blowing up, subframe cracks, etc. mind you, those whom had the issues, seem to push their cars hard and over did the mods..

Some did a couple hard launches. Replace rubber suspension components with poly urethane bushing etc. just want to make sure that I go into this with eyes wide open
