I recently did this maintenance when I was getting a P2190 and P2188 CEL error, and it worked great, (no CEL for 2 weeks now). BUT something strange happened. I had looked at a lot of articles about MAF cleaning, and normally there is a wire/temp sensor that runs down the side on BOSCH MAFs, but on BOTH my MAFs they were missing? When looking on this article, I noticed the OP also seems to have them missing, its a little unclear in the picture, but it looks like its missing for sure? Just want to make sure this is NORMAL? Its a 2007 997 Turbo. Parts numbers line up with original poster, car seems fine, just thought it was odd, because its clearly missing! Maybe the turbos get their air temp somewhere else and this was removed for cost??

Missing Wire
Matching Part number to original post
Is the MAF with the extra external resistor a valid replacement part? It has the same part number!
I never did get an answer to this, so I put the MAFs back without the resistor/sensor, and its been running fine for years. I believe they are not supposed to be there because even the original poster is missing the resistor as well. Maybe, if your nearest Porsche Parts store has one in stock, you could take a look but I am working under the assumption they are missing. It would be nice to know for sure though.
I have two sets, one with and one without.
I kept blowing the rubber sleeve connector from the Y pipe to the throttle body. I thought it was the MAFs throwing a code.
However, I used the ones with the resister since they were new and still didn't get the warm and fuzzies, Slightly poor throttle response.
So I put the originals back with no resister, I haven't test driven as yet to see if my throttle response or rather smoother idling has returned.
After getting codes and resetting and fixing the sleeve, does the ECU now have to relearn the new correct intake flow? If so how long?
