Vivid DRL Install Problem
I was an early purchaser of these DRL's and have a 3 year warranty on the product. My car is well taken care of and is never driven in the rain. The clear casing has come apart. Communicated this to vivid racing and they recommend that I send them the unit for them to glue it back together with silicone. They conveyed to me that this is what the warranty covers. Heck, I'm capable of gluing it back myself. I'm expecting a replacement since I'm still under warranty.

did you ask vivid what they mean by "hassle free" before making your purchase?

Per your email, all the DRL kits come here and we now black silicone the outer edges to keep them 150% waterproof. Your set this was not done from the pictures. Since it is seperating, we would simply resilicone them. Since you have no actual light issues, instead of swapping it for a unit that is here and might not work properly, we would simply resilicone bead them. What they did at the factory did not completely seal some of them as you can see on yours. We are currently awaiting new DRL kits that will be about 3-4 weeks. We do have some spare parts here for warranty fixes and or replacements. Our warranty has always been to fix or replace depending on the situation.
This not been sent to us and has gone nothing past email and pictures. We would cover the return shipping not a problem. Hassle free does not mean we can give you a loaner car or fly there and replacement ourselves. But we sure have no problem honoring our warranty like any other company.

For the record, I was not trying to mock VividRacing - I am simply asking if anyone inquired what the warranty period entails - what is covered, etc. If Dan provides a warranty to 3 years, offering a repair on the item is well within the rights of making a limited claim...unless he specified otherwise. If the buyer didn't ask, and simply assumed that it would be replaced with a brand new item, then I think that is unreasonable. (He is after all asking for an opinion.)
I don't think it is reasonable to replace a damaged or defective item with a completely new product unless it was promised under the warranty agreement - at best it should be refurbished or repaired...something that Vivid is honoring. I think a repair is a reasonable remedy.

bbywu - Did not take it that way. So no biggie. I ignore others comments as when the earlier issue appeared to be the result of a installation error, they went quiet. We do our best to support each circumstance the best we can. I have emails and was trying to handle the situation appropriately to our offering and policy.
First, let me say that after further conversations with vivid racing, I’m happy we’ve agreed upon a reasonable solution. Dan, I’m glad you care about customer service.
I have an expectation of top notch quality and service for our high-end cars, products and maintenance. I believe we deserve this for the money we shell out for these items. I don’t think too many people out there can afford or are willing to shell out $1K for car lights.
It didn’t make much sense to me to send the defective units back to vivid racing for them to silicone it back together. Companies need to see it from the customer viewpoint. I would waste a whole weekend morning removing the bumper, taking off the defective DRL’s, waiting for you to glue it. Then I would have to keep my bumper off and wait for the part to be mailed back to me to finish the project.
In the end, I’m happy you are willing to help me out by sending me a functional unit that I can immediately trade out for the defective unit, so we’re not wasting time. Time is money.
