Vivid DRL Install Problem
Vivid DRL Install Problem
Anyone else see this problem before. When the car is off, the lights light up as they should. When the car is running they flash like a cop car!
What model is your car? It may seem that these lights have been tested on TT's with the older front control units 07, 08. If your's is 09, vivid will need to fix it from their end. I may be wrong.
Now the lights.....how to pay to turn you Porsche into a cop car hahahaaaa.
Baldbag - sounds like an ignition power wire installed wrong. Since they utlize the factory plugs for the power and ground, this could be the only thing unless it was a bad module. No big deal as we warranty these out if there is a problem. Please give me a call so I can find your order and sort out what may be the issue.
You might want to double check the ignition power wire is installed correctly from this document - http://www.agency-power.com/blog/age...-installation/
these DRLs have no relationship so could not affect anything with the lights.

I tried to run the power wire off the wire going to the side marker lights, so they would only be on when the parking lights where on. Once wired to the fuse box they dont flash like a cop car anymore
But,
The right light has about 5 leds in Yellow and 3 or 4 in White
The left side flickers and had a small amount of smoke rising up from it. My friend noticed this. I unplugged them for now. Till I get a chance to call VIVID

I was an early installer of these after having them on pre-order - they've been in for a year now, no problems.
I'd never taken off my bumper before and am not an expert electrician but based on the install instructions linked in Vivid's initial DRL install thread I was able to get them working with no problems.
I even posted additional pics and detail in that thread which I thought would be helpful for someone else doing an install like this for the first time.
I think if you deviate from the install instructions you're on your own... sounds like that is what happened here ?

For future reference, their install instructions linked directly on the product page of our site and Agency Power website. There are a couple install write ups on the forums too. But yeah, if you try to tap into anything else, they wont work right.
I hope this clears things up for some others who posted here too.

I was an early purchaser of these DRL's and have a 3 year warranty on the product. My car is well taken care of and is never driven in the rain. The clear casing has come apart. Communicated this to vivid racing and they recommend that I send them the unit for them to glue it back together with silicone. They conveyed to me that this is what the warranty covers. Heck, I'm capable of gluing it back myself. I'm expecting a replacement since I'm still under warranty.
