Quick Overrev question before potential purchase
Quick Overrev question before potential purchase
I'm looking at an 07 997 turbo, manual. One owner, very clean. Only 10k miles. Never drove it in the rain.
Has already been checked out by a porsche dealer and is ready to go with no problems.
It has the following:
type 1: 3075
type 2: 484
type 3: 20
I'm worried about the # of type 2 and type 3 overrevs.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance..

Thanks guys. It's an 07 Turbo, 1 owner, 10k miles, manual, with pccbs. What's a good price in your opinion?

If it is in mint conditon with service records with some nice options, I would say anywhere between 75K-85K. Yes there are 2007 Turbos out there for less but probably not the quality of this car. With those low miles, you can buy an aftermarket warranty to avoid any problems if they pop up later. Good luck with your purchase. Please post pics if you go for it...
Glad you found one. In terms of price, you know mine was similar and what I paid. What color is it? Cab? I think if its a safe color and coupe, low 80s seem to be what the market is.

Did tech explain overrev 1-3 types and what they mean? I guess the type 1 would be forgetting to shift to second which is easy because need to shift to second happens instantly when engine gets fully hammered on. This type should cause no harm because fuel gets cut off.
The same fuel cut-off happens in second when excitement is there and one forgets that a shift is needed at 70 m/h. Maybe this is Type 2. The type 3 , what does 3 represent??
Wonder, if a mechanical overrev sadly happens, that is accidentally downshifting into second at high road speeds. When this happens, rev-limiter has no affect and this is is when pistons hit valves. Wonder what type oveerrev this mistake signals???

Check out my how to buy a TT thread. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...sed-997tt.html It explains the ranges, and there is another overrev thread as well somewhere. This set of overrevs is very clean.
