You know exaaactly what im talking about. Like your post now (which you have edited already) where you have removed your comment to me saying "weren't i supposed to be leaving this thread", the same thing happened on your previous post regarding your GMG comment which you removed whilst I was capturing your post to respond. I don't comment unless i read what you have said and it is not my problem that you delete comments prior to me being able to use your quote in my post. Anyway....you were saying?

 

If you want a loud car you need to get a GT3.... If you want the best noise you need to get EP ;-)

 

I don't think I said it was too loud top down; either way, for clarification, it's fine (actually I would say it's *intoxicating!) top down, but booms too much (my words, and for me) top up in a cab. Keep in mind, everybody's different - and I'm deaf in my right ear, so that def plays a role in my opinion. Might be fine for 99% of the folks out there.

Everybody tries to cast a net, but in same breath acknowledges that taste is individual...

Your answer (as per the copy paste of the actual post below) to the question asked by ryem3 was posted as a general answer so, i took it that even though you said the note sounded fine, it was too loud for your ear. So if you say you are deaf in one ear and still feel it is too loud, and now say it "booms" (which is drone by the way) then i would imagine if your hearing was perfect and you were not deaf in one ear then it would be louder to you? Would that be a reasonable assessment? I mean i don't want to jump to any unfair conclusions here and if i am wrong in any way please explain.

I'll try to explain, but it's not easy for people w good hearing to always get. Being a driver who is deaf in my right ear makes it difficult to process sounds from only one ear. What i mean to say is, I'm not saying necessarily that GMG would be louder if I had 2 ears, because your brain is able to process the sound inputs better (particularly from the right side) and you can hear passengers, radio, etc better when you have 2 good ears. That is my view anyways. When the top is down, the exhaust noise is less of a "processing" issue as it is a smaller portion of the overall noise for one ear to process. With top up, it creates too much interior noise on the left side and drowns out other noises and cant be processed.

That is how I look at it anyways... Again, I dont think a net can be cast.

 

Thanks for the explanation. It is logical that if the system drones badly with one ear working it would only be worse if two ears were working because the drone would be twice as clear. If you drive it so the engine keeps over 3000 it may help knock out some of the booming?....but i concede that is not a practical solution in real world driving situations. Have you considered a system without boom or is booming something you are happy to live with?

PS Btw what do you mean you don't think a net can be cast?
