Aero rockers and front lip
Aero rockers and front lip
The unpainted plastic parts on my Bassalt Black car do nothing but collect dust out here in west Texas. I've though about getting the Aero front and sides and painting to match. Anyone have luck with this on here? Look good? It seems they sell with our vendors on here for $1000-1800 and on FleaBay for $600 (same "German" fiberglass). Looking for advice

Here's a shot of mine with my stock lip and sides painted.
Here it is now (no turning back

good looking fender flares bro,it definitely makes the car look way better. keep it up. to the OP I'd just paint em and keep em like that until I get bored of the look and then see what options there are as painting them would mean the world of a change already
My car is black, so the asthetic upgrade is minumal. They collect dust within a minute of driving down the road... and I like the aero side skirts.

My experience has never been good with replica or copied parts. Nothing beats the way the factory parts fit, period.
The OEM GT2/GT3RS sideskirts are a nice subtle addition. They're available right from your dealer in either textured black, or primed for paint.
The sideskirts and front splitter on the silver car above are made by TechArt, although I suspect the ones pictured may be replicas. Beware, there are A LOT of imitation and replica TechArt parts floating around out there. If it doesn't have the authentic TechArt stamp on it, I wouldn't buy it. You'll end up spending more $$ trying to paint and properly fit a replica part, and you'll end up wishing you went OEM at the end of the day. Just my 0.2¢

I just bought the aero front lip for my Basalt Black TT. I am planning to color match the OE skirts and rear valance, along with the new aero lip. I think it makes it look a bit classier.
Rocker Panal Paint DIY
I did a tutorial on this in RennTech.org. It was for my 996 TT but should be the simular on a 997TT...
The body shop wanted $650 to do this...It took 20 minutes to remove and 45 minutes to put back and a auto painter sprayed it for me for $195.
See before and after shots...

As others have suggested, I would stick to the OEM parts, fit and finish is great.
I like the front aero and GT2 side skirts. Several members have done this, including myself, so you can get some pics for reference. I went all in with mine and purchased brand new, pre-primered, parts direct from SunCoast. I then took them to a very reputable paint shop and had them properly sprayed. I then took them home and let them sit in the house for 2 months. After that I had the parts installed and immediately had a clear film applied, just like most parts on the front of the car. Was it pricey, yep...but I wouldn't do it any other way.
You're correct that the painting the lower parts on your color will not have the same effect as the lighter colors but it will still be noticeable and look fantastic.
Good luck...
