Paint is good up to 1200 F. I can assure you the tips do NOT get close to that temp....if they did, the bumper cover would be a puddle of liquid goo behind the car.....the turbos don't even get quite that hot and they glow red at max temp. If the paint fails it won't likely be due to the temp..

Update on painted tips
Its been 2 months and 2500 miles with the car getting washed twice a week.


The exhaust tips look as good as the day I painted them.


The eastwood paint is the best stuff.

Great to hear! Congrats...Sounds like that paint holds up to its promise! And again...I am not certain the exact temp. on the tips...But I have never known them to get terribly hot....Even after some hard driving they are just hot....Not like a Cat or Header, or Turbo.

5 months and 5000 miles later
Tips look like the day I painted them. Save yourself a lot of money on a very simple DIY.

Pretty Simple DIY project

1. Remove tips
2. Washed with Simple Green cleaner and sun dried (Organic tips)
3. Chrome was roughed up with 200 grit sandpaper followed by 1200 grit
4. Painted with satin black (looks flat to me) high temp exhaust paint from Eastwood automotive
5. Sun dried for 2 hours (Organic tips)
6. Re installed.

Love the way they look
Looks great and something I intend to do to my car just as you have shown very soon. Gave you rep points!
