Painted my Exhaust Tips today
Thanks to Redwine702 for the pointers - He has the white TT with black exhaust tips.
Pretty Simple DIY project
1. Remove tips
2. Washed with Simple Green cleaner and sun dried (Organic tips)
3. Chrome was roughed up with 200 grit sandpaper followed by 1200 grit
4. Painted with satin black (looks flat to me) high temp exhaust paint from Eastwood automotive
5. Sun dried for 2 hours (Organic tips)
6. Re installed.
Love the way they look

Problem with Painted Exhaust Tips
Hi - thanks for the great post! I've followed the instructions you posted a couple times now, but my tips continue to chip after 1 drive immediately. The first time it chipped inside the tip, so I assumed I had put the paint on too thin. Repeated the entire process, and this time, there is chipping on the outside edge. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks all!

Here are my ceramic coated tips
Thanks again. I spoke to a Ceramic Coating guy and he said that sandblasting was important prep work. You'd think roughing it up with 200 grit would have a similar effect. Maybe I shouldn't have followed it up with 1500 grit?
They want $100 and 2 weeks to do the ceramic - tempted to try once more with high temp paint since others have had success on this forum.
