small chip can be repaired either DIY or professionally if you don't keep driving

large ones i usually can avoid with less highway driving. or get a clearplex as said

Yeah my deductible is $200. So not that bad. Regarding the Antenna, I seem to get quite a bit of static on the FM bands. I wonder if that is due to a faulty windshield? I don't have that issue with my van and that has a built in antenna on the rear quarter window.

Interesting comments regarding replacements......Agreed the OEM is pure crap, and Porsche does not actually make them....similar to their crappy batteries......

So what I find interesting/funny is the concern of whether the insurance companies will replace with OEM(so they can chip and break more)....when PPG or others make much better products

Things that make you go....hmmmmm?

I agree that replacing with the same OEM windshield would probably lead to it chipping easily again. Though doubtful, but if I mine is replaced with another OEM windshield, I will definitely get it covered in clearplex or a comparable material.

My concern with a non-OEM replacement is the "viewing" quality of the glass. The previous windshields I've had replaced (non Porsche) show distortion if you look through the glass at certain angles. I have not "seen" this issue with OEMs.

I am unfamiliar with PPG (is this the auto paint co.?) or another windshield manufacturers. Can a certain brand be requested through the insurance company as a replacement?
