VTG actuator arm and ball

I was having the dealer replace the arms and they broke the ball on the actuator. The ball on the arm attached to the turbo shows rust and probably is bad. They just told me to replace ball on actuator requires a new actuator and to replace ball on turbo requires new a turbo!! Are you ****ting me? This tiny ball can't be more than $10 part that just screws into the arms. Are there any after market companies that make this ball?

Thanks, I'd hate to have to move to bigger turbos for this simple issue.

That sucks! What a nightmare!

Sorry I'm sure there is a bigger story to what I'm about to say; if the dealer broke something while working on your car, shouldn't the dealer be responsible and not you?

Hope you figure it out! Keep us posted and Goodluck!

I think I have case to have dealer fix the ball they broke on the actuator side. But the turbo side of the arm is still an issue. That little ball is rusted, thus probably smaller and even with a new actuator arm, it will still eventually pop out. Maybe a machine shop might be my answer but figured I'd ask here.

Attached pic, I need to replace this ball, not the whole frigging turbo.

From the pic, that is just surface rust. Some steel wool and some lithium grease when done and I can't see that being an issue. However the picture may lie...

997TTMeister is infamous around these parts
It is low grade stainless, just polish it up, and plenty of grease when putting it back together. It will only snap if you try to undo it.
