Need help with Dension 500
I installed the Dension 500 Unit years ago, since 2009 I believe and it worked fine until a couple of years ago. I didn't get to use my car because I was overseas most of the time.
My situation now is that, once I connect my iPhone 5 to the iPod usb, it doesn't play my songs and gives the sound of small pulses. (like bep, bep bep bep and so on)
On the screen I can see the song titles just fine and can scroll thru the menus as normal. I have never fiddled with the unit and the DIP is set correctly as stated in the manual for Porsche. My car has CD changer.
Any input is well appreciated.
Many Thanks!

Honestly I dont think I will ever get my Dension to fully "work" but yes it should work with the older non-lightning devices.
I just did an update on my Dension 500, I did get the file 'GW_EE.BIN' in my usb flash after the install. It is still not working correctly. I can switch back and forth my CD Changer and that is playing without a problem. What should I do next?
Dension is truly hopeless when it comes to support, the only customers who get support is the ones who bought it from Eric (here on this forum). The lack of support is in it self a reason not to buy their stuff, regardless of how well they work (since its a non trivial installation anyways).
If you can use your cd changer you probably need to either disconnect it or have the car coded by the dealer to disable the cd-changer (since the Dension take the "cd-changer" spot on the bus.

SRatha...can you try with just an iPod connected to the iPod cable to see if that works?
Some older units will benefit from a) software update - though the older Gateway 500 (NOT the current 500SBT) had its last update years back), and/or b) a hard reset.
To do a hard reset:
Vehicle on, blue light on Aux is steady (meaning all is functioning), use a paper clip to press the RESET button near the blue light on the Aux. Hold 3 seconds.
Let go, turn vehicle off, remove key, let vehicle sit 10 minutes.
Restart, check to see if this resolved issues.
Other common problems:
Switched power - power to the Dension MUST BE constant/UNswitched, so check your power.
Dip Switches out of sync - check to see that your dip switches are set correctly for your vehicle and configuration. Sometimes these get moved during installation.
CD Changer: if you have a cd changer on the loop, and you installed the Dension behind the radio, and did NOT extend the CDC optical to the Dension, you installed wrong. Either route the CDC to the Dension, place the Dension beside the CDC up front and reroute your cables, or buy our CD Bypass cable and bypass the changer.

Hi Eric,
Thank you for your input. I believed you did help me with the install when I purchased it, and it worked very good then.
I will try to hard reset it, and see if that helps.
Many thanks...
