20" Wheels
20" Wheels
Hello everyone
First of all, Happy New Year to all of you....
Does anyone knows or has experienced a 20" wheel swap, what would be the difference in performance if there is any?

It would depend on the wheel weights that you swapped too.
Speaking in extremely general terms, 20's are more for looks, than performance so you could expect higher weights and decreased performance. As a result, you would be pretty hard pressed to find many race cars with 20" wheels.
However, there are some light weight 20's made that you could get that would be similar or possibly lighter than the factory 19's which might be a nice compromise between looks and performance. Typically these types of lightweight wheels are pretty pricey though.

I have 20" wheels (HRE) that came with the car. I also have the 19" stock wheels that I use at the track or when I don't feel like taking the time to put the 20's back on.
As far as ride on the street goes, the 20's do ride a little rougher but it's not that noticeable. On the track, the 19's definitely feel better than the 20's, they are lighter and absorb a rough track better (more tire).
From an appearance standpoint, I love my 20's, they really fill out the wheel well nicely.
Like Kricci said, 20's are for looks. I think there are probably more tire options for the 19's vs. the 20's as well.
Good luck and enjoy

You could always paint them to add a little more pizazz for the track and give your car a different look when you feel like it.
I did that on my previous car - 20" for the street but when i went to the track i had flat black, lightweight Enkei's in 18" with super aggressive rubber. It was a nice change of pace. I liked the black wheels, but not enough to roll with them every day. Gave my car two very unique looks as well which is nice.

That is exactly what I did I painted them flat black with the inside in red.
thanks for the advise!

I think this is the perfect set-up, keep the stock wheels for the track.

20" for cruising but, use the stock rims for racing.
I felt my car actually get slower by using 2lbs more in each corner vs. using the "stock" 19" rims.
If you want to use the 20" at the track than spend some money on the weight.

You could always go with Champion RG5's (what I'm currently running).
The rears (20x12) if I recall correctly are lighter than most 19" front.
They are super light weight, solid aluminium wheels. Champion is a board sponsor.

I run 20's on the street with some modified suspension bits. Assuming you get 20's that are not boat anchors, it'll be doubtful you'll notice any big difference with 20's on street driving.
Agreed on 19's or 18's is you want better performance at the track though.

Nice!! It looks so different with the 20" wheels.
That picture shows the 19's on stock turbo sized tires 235 and 305, so the tires are stretched a bit. That's why the wheels look a little bigger.

Oh and I like your HRE 20s too!
