Bought my low mileage 997.1 TT with aftermarket LEDs installed. It currently has 4 LEDs out on one side and I've been too swamped w/ work to sit down and troubleshoot it. I don't yet know which manufacturer they are, only that the installer also put the red LED light that should have gone into the tails, in the front side marker lights instead, and consequently my brake lights are white LEDs. I'm hoping that's a simple bulb swap, and a separate issue from why 4 LEDs are out on one side. May have time to troubleshoot later this spring when it warms up a bit; for now she's in the garage until the roads are bare and dry anyway. Grrr.

 

The taillights are sealed. You won't be able to just replace a couple of LED's. Not easily anyways.

Thanks AuZZie. I haven't even begun to troubleshoot. If they're sealed units, that confirms my suspicion the swap was a very bad idea and I'll almost certainly go back to OEM.

 

Your only option would be to do the heat (oven) trick and break the glue/seal to pull them apart. I'm not terribly familiar with LED lights, but I'd guess the LED's inside are actually soldered to a board so you'd then have to de-solder/replace/re-solder. Then of course re-seal the housing, which from my experience never quite seals the same and results in moisture.

So yea, I'd go with the replacement route. If you go back to OEM they're pretty cheap. Bout $250 a corner I believe.

 

I think the ones with the red bulb installed are the ROTtecs FWIW

Does any one have any information on the rear LED tail lights offered by Maxspeed Motorsports? I have their LED DRL's and they are exetremely well put together...very OEM. I'm considering upgrading my rears now.

 

I have to agree that the dectane/depo look the best.

these are mine.
dectanes that are PROPERLY tinted.
90% of these bogus shops put this dull tint over it that makes it look cheap.
this has a high gloss tint (its actually paint).

yes its a werk1 diffuser & spoiler. i took the spoiler off because i need to mod the factory decklid to remove the "horns" on the side (it doesnt go with the flow of the wing).
i am going to copy exactly what AMGGTR did ...
