997.1 LED Tails
^^^ Thanks. Yes the Rottecs have rear fog lamps. However, I am unclear if my car is actually equipped with rear fog lamps? The Head Light Switch on the dash, if you rotate it clock wise until full stop, you can then pull it out toward you one click for the front fog lamps, then you can pull it one more click to activate a rear fog lamp (?)...only the drivers side eliminates though...outer edge.
Okay, I attempted to install mine last night...Ran into a little hiccup while watching the Delray install Youtube postings. For Turbo installs are calling for a "resister". I have a 09 997.1TT, does anyone know if its needed for model year 09's? They appear to be the exact same lights and packaging shown in the Delray videos. Of course, being the weekend, I haven't had any luck contacting Delray or MaxSpeed to confirm this...hmmm...
ryem3 is correct, you could simply leave the bulbs out and make sure you don't pull the switch to the rear fog.
However…if you're OCD like most of us here I prefer to have a red bulb in the socket as this part of the exterior lens is clear and you can see if there is no bulb installed.
Before installing the bulb(s) put a small, tac size, piece of electrical tape over the contacts points. The bulbs will still go into the sockets properly and will not illuminate.

no offense guys but thats retarded.
the fog light isnt an led, and you have to be wary of pulling on the fog light switch for fear of getting an error code ?!? you put up with that ... on a $100k car ???
these are porsches not riced up civics. give that **** back and get some dectanes.
the bulbs arent even aligned right.. wtf

found this pic of what the fog light looks like when its on... not an led.. SMH

dectane foglight (no codes, and its LED)

Steve,
No offense taken. Both versions have had some hiccups.
The ROTTECs were first to market. Many of use on here got in on the group buy @ $750 with one year warranty. The Dectane light wasn't around at this time. Some units shipped where the led's didn't align, as you pointed to. These were covered under warranty and replaced as needed. IMO…this look is a massive upgrade compared to the stock unit.
The Dectane version came out some time later and as you can read on here has had issues too. Yes it looks more like the OEM unit, wouldn't doubt that but these too are subject to misaligned bulbs. Couple this with the resistor issue people have posted about, certainly not trouble free.
Everything is subjective at this point, including those who opt to have tinted lenses, etc. IMO, either way it is still a significant upgrade and the easiest solution sans replacing the bumper and installing the 997.2 units.

No worries. The dectane had major reliability issues as well and people have had horrible customer service experiences with early vendors.
WOW! I stepped out for dinner and so much activity while I was a way! LOL
Nello from MaxSpeed Motorsports ended up responding to all my Q&A's earlier today and confirmed that these latest versions did not need any resisters and that they were built in to the units. Also, I did install the red bulbs vs leaving them as the stock clear bulbs or as some had suggested leaving them out entirely....which really wouldn't make any sense because they are actually the brake LIGHTS!
No codes, no issues, 15 minutes to install....
Sorry for the crappy iPhone images. I'll try and get some better ones tomorrow.
Cheers,

Are these the latest and greatest. Had issue with ones I purchased from rottec. One of pairs has a few dead leds now. Should I order the declines? What do you do if one of the leds burn out can they be fixed?
For del-rey/rottec style, you can tape one electrical contact of the fog light bulb and plug it into the socket. The light would then remain 'off' and only come on when switching it at the light control switch. I ran it like this for two months without problems.
Every one of your questions was answered in the thread.
Did you take more photos? I see that you have the smoke version with a black car. Do you have any with the lights off also?
^^^ Sorry...haven't gotten around to taking any additional pictures. The car is actually Atlas Grey. I did correspond with Nello at MaxSpeed today inquiring about the finish, meaning, are they black clear painted, film tinted, or actual "smoked" colored plastic. He informed me that they are actual smoked color plastic. I had OEM all red tail lights, which I still really like a lot. One thing I immediately noticed after installing the smoked LED's is that it actually made my car look wider (good thing).

I like the Red as I breaks up the midline a little. Stuck between the two though.
