As you can see from the attached press release for POA these are US figures. You can also see the previous year (2008). I have also attached a second press release showing numbers for 06 and 07. It reveals lots of couples built in the first year with fewer cabs. I'm a 6 speed guy so if you factor in how many were equipped with tips then the number gets really small for 09's. Based on my searches I suspect a majority of the 09's were tip equipped, maybe someone actually has the answer to that. Here's the links;

but when you look at the report, thats just the sales report for that year alone. some 2009 turbos have a warranty starting from 2008, meaning it was first sold in 2008.

Yea, they are annual sales figures but that's the only way Porsche publishes them.

If you get right car at right price- do it you won't regret it.
EVEN THOUGH its a TIP? Dude after getting the tip I am SO glad i didnt get a manual. Drove a manual and you THINK you are fast but your passenger will tell you how slow you really are.
Seriously go ride a 6sp vs your car back to back in the passenger seat.

The tip or PDK is the only way to go unless you drive here and there.
Ill say it again I have NEVER once said Dang it I wish i had a manual. I said the opposite PLENTY with my 6spds.

EEH, not sure I would go that route. 997.1 is the last of the breed. The newer ones while so advanced are less of the beast the Metzler is. They might be a monster but I think the 997.1 is going to be THEE one to have. The 997.2 is the place holder for the 991.

No doubt that a tip or PDK equipped car will accelerate faster than a 6 speed, so if max accel is a primary consideration go for it. I decided on a 6 speed (I realize it may be my last) as I was more interested in the driving experience of a three pedal car. There's something about mastering a manual car that is satisfying in a way that an AT isn't. Although slower my 6 speed is still plenty fast

So are you saying having a manual somehow makes you a better driver or what? I have driven manuals since a fiero... I don't need a stick in the car to prove I have one in my pants. :-)

It's like saying a true Hunter chases his food and bashes it's head with a rock or you aren't truly enjoying hunting

I enjoy driving not manipulating parts. :-)

Your comments are hysterical...

I question how much you've actually driven...I've driven, and been a passenger, in both manual and PDK turbos...on our U.S. roads, good luck differentiating the speed between any of these turbos...if your passenger thinks the manual is slower, I'll take them for a ride and request they haven't had a recent meal...the main advantage of PDK is the constant acceleration, and it's amazing...that being said, its primary benefit is on the track or during a quarter-mile run at a speedway...there is no right or wrong answer; one isn't better than the other, but your juvenile comments don't seem to respect this forum and make me think, "flame on".

I have always been a manual guy and after driving a Tip I thought I would never buy an auto-manual Porsche. Those stupid buttons on the steering wheel where a joke. But when I drove the PDK it is amazing and I don't miss a manual at all.

You cannot double declutch an auto going into a corner, sorry... have had manuals and a few autos... all are good for what they are meant for....

The PDK and BMW DCT are lightning quick changes for sure but the Tiptronics I drove had the same feeling as my old E39 BMW auto.... good for cruising but meh on the bends, windy roads etc

But it is each to their own..............

I bought a manual because they may be almost dead in the Porsche world very soon

Bashing heads? Killing animals? Proving our manhood? Hey, I was just saying I enjoy the challenge and involvement of driving a manual. Don't mean to imply I'm a better driver.
I'm guessing you still manipulate the steering wheel and brakes and other stuff though.....

The challenge though is that there were only 321 couples and 551 cabs sold in 09, that's down from over 2100 sold in 08. I guess they were winding down production in preparation for the 997.2
I have an '09, and it def doesn't have XM. Has improved touch screen, Nav, etc - but no XM.

I went from a modded 2008 997.1 911S (Very nice car) to modded 2007 997.1' Tip Turbo
w/ ECU,TCU upgrades, Europe 1 exhaust, GMG springs and sways, LED rears, 997.2 headlights, AMG (Mercedes) paddles, Alpine head unit with touch and Bluetooth, GT3 buckets, BBC rims, software upgrade giving me Overboost.
I love this car, don't miss my 6 speed at all. Plan to keep this 997.1 for years to come. I guarantee you won't be sorry

Yea, the touch screen was standard but the original buyer had to check the boxes to get several features like universal audio interface and bluetooth, XM radio was a $750 option. When looking for a TT I was surprised how many first buyers of 997.2's didn't order XM, yes it's expensive but so is the car, and I really like XM particularly on a road trip.
