From GTR to 991 C2S to 997.2 TT
I just wonder why GTR owners lurk/troll Porsche forums. I have never once gone to a GTR forum looking for them to mention my car so I can jump in and try to convince them that my car is "better".
Saying that Porsche isnt special is a bit disingenious. Porsche is the most successful manufacturer by far in the history of international sports car racing. 16 overall wins at LeMans and over 50 class wins at LeMans.

Let's not ignore the 29 victories with 29 starts (in its debut), and 50 victories in 50 starts (1991-7), while winning Touring car championships for multiple years in a row, and races like including Bathurst, etc... Pretty storied itself. But to me, absolutely NONE of that has anything to do with the ability to start a car and drive to work in the morning, or which car I decide to track on any given day/weekend. Everybody buys different cars for different reasons... like the OP.

Color be crazy but i dont think anyone has bashed on the GTR and the only one taking offense is a guy with a 1100awhp.............. 911 and with SOOOO many 1XXXhp 911 out there..... LOL i cant even finish this!
Actually GTRs are not that noticable. Everyone i have met that isnt a car guy notices the other brands first and i have to explain that its a supercar. All the ladies think its gross.
Cops on the other hand know what it is. One Viriginia Cop told me all cars equal he gets me, if there is a GTR or other "boy racer" his not my words, he will go get them over me.
I would get a GTR and still consider adding one. I just DREAD bringing it to the dealer and being treated like the next soccer mom looking for a point a to B that has no clue about anything.
Just in my experience.

We dont expect those remarks from a guy selling me a car that is 2x the average paycheck, has a racing heritage, is the fastest car on the road on any given day,..... then that same moron, is too stupid to let someone drive it 5 miles because its such a rare car. Ok if its SO prestigous then TREAT me with the prestige of the car. No I dont want the stupid BS sprays you are gonna put on it nor do I want you other BS tricks to get me to pay more for a car i didnt come in for.
I came in to look at a GTR or Stingray in a VERY nice car... the cars competition. You treat me like I can't afford it... and although you know NOTHING about it you know that no one is allow in it, yet its got 100 miles on it? lemme guess your Idiot GM taking it for a spin?
Nothing annoys or turns me away faster than a guy that cant even dress himself acting like he and his car is out of my ability to purchase. And I am not even getting into the "my wifes shoes cost more than his entire wardrobe and car payment" argument.
I understand you dont roll into a place in a wife beater and old dickies, kick the tire of a 90k GTR and say "ya'll got them keys handy"
However when a salesman treats you like that.....
The Porsche Comment " you still drive home in a Nissan" is 100X true.
Had the exact same thought. And the TT isnt exactly narrow to start with.
We expect those remarks from the idiot selling a truck to one guy that needs a car and a mustang/camaro to a lady that needs a van.

Have to agree with you here on the Nissan dealership experience. I really wanted to test drive one and seriously considered buying a GTR before I bought my turbo. But honestly, the dealer was so obnoxious and treated me so poorly that it turned me off entirely. Not to mention their insistence that I pay $10-15K OVER sticker as a "dealer suggested" markup. F--K that! I like to pay LESS than sticker for pretty much everything I buy.
The GTR is a beast though and for me, if they just made it sleeker looking and sexier, I'd buy one. That and maybe having the Infiniti dealerships sell them
The GTR is faster, it's cheaper, costs less to insure, has a massive trunk, doesn't cost as much to repair, gets better gas mileage, gets noticed by more men. The Porsche is more comfortable, has better fit & finish, uses more quality pieces, is more prestigious, looks better, blends in with most traffic
GTR faster? yes. Faster that you can use on the street? Questionable.
GTR cheaper? yes, quite a bit
GTR costs less to insure? Where did this come from? For me they were about the same.
GTR has a "massive" trunk? Hardly, but it does have a trunk. The Porsche has a frunk, which is deeper than the GTR trunk. GTR has LESS rear legroom, by several inches. GTR rear headroom, perhaps a bit more. Which is more comfortable for rear passengers? Porsche.
GTR doesn't cost as much to repair?
That's
. Compare pricing on brake pads and rotors. Change tranny fluid on a GTR (Porsche doesn't need it). Required oil changes are much more often on the GTR (just using mfg. recommendations here, don't bring your own "recommended" intervals)GTR gets better gas mileage? Don't what fact supports that, but I got about 3 mpg LESS with a stock GTR than a stock 997.1 turbo.
GTR gets noticed by more men? Hands down fact! I considered this more a detriment to ownership rather than a benefit!
That only touches on the issues. If you want more, read my thread in the GTR section. It's about the most read thread in that section.
I'll be careful since Jasper's also on the thread
Nothing but peace here. ALL of this said, if I had a 5 car garage, I'd love to have an Alpha 10. With my new .2 turbo, I get 90% of the performance and twice the comfort though. Carry on and congrats to the OP. I haven't posted a thread yet, but I'm really loving my new .2.

But, in all seriousness - this is the policy to keep away people (admittedly the target demographic) who may not be able to afford the car, but want to drive one anyway. They've kept thousands of would-be tire kickers away from a car that does cost more than others in the same dealership (not unlike purchasing a 918 in the same place as a Boxster). BUT - the GT-R has met its sales goals every year since its inception (except the first year was exceeded), so unless sales start missing the mark, I don't think this policy will change. They can afford to miss a sale or two. Regarding the miles - anything over 30 is excess (after the testing by the same guy for every GT-R that gets run on the track outside of the factory) - and yeah, I'd be questioning the hell out of 'em.
Not to fan the flames of the GTR / TT war the poor OP's thread has become, but I like to be sure other people know the truth.

I walked into a dealership in OKC when I was comparing the Z06 and GTR back in 2010, and they threw me the keys within 5 minutes of being at the dealership. I was 27 and pulled up in a 2004 Honda Civic. Pretty funny considering the other GTR dealership experiences on this thread. BTW, I went with the Z06 because I thought the GTR was exceptionally boring. I still like them though, and I'd be surprised if i don't own one at some point. I'm very happy with the 997.1 TT for now though.

But for me on the subjective side it had nothing on the 911, and even though price is much lower I didnt want it, instead of an GTR I would prob consider a M5 (more practical and still cool).

Chevy dealer was the same. I got the stories of how people were calling and buying them sight unseen... to which i asked then why do you have 2 GTRs and the corvette z06 he had 4. Yeah really in demand buddy.
Note to salesman trolling the boards... Do some fashion research, and car research. When someone shows up asking to test drive your "GLORIOUS" car you can do yourself a lot by taking a look how they handle themselves. Not saying I should special treatment, but that ONE person that bought the car unseen and had it trailered to his warehouse was ONE DUDE!
Actually I called the IDIOT Chevy GM on it, I said yeah he bought unseen and his assistant came and got it didnt he? he stutters and stammers, I said congrats you have ONE story and 4 cars here... I'll see you later.
Honestly that is the turnoff. Oh and the racer boyz, that know what a GTR is and want to race you in their Evo's and WRX's....
Its like the guys that know it... either know it and want to race you, or dont and have no clue. Nothing inbetween. Biggest turnoff was the Nissan dealer. I might have one if it wasnt for them
*dyno
Give it a bit. There will be a nice write up with pictures and videos of the car. It's at TopSpeed Motorsports at the moment wrapping up a few things
