997.1tt fails to start after short break
Hi guys!
My 997.1tt fails to start engine from first attempt after I leave it with engine switched off for a short period of time(for 5 minutes or so), for example when getting in and back from convenience shop. On second attempt it starts normally. Any ideas what may be the issue here?

bad clutch pedal switch typically would show up on dash with warning to depress clutch pedal...im dealing with that now and fixing it today.
Ive had what OP is experiencing only a few times in 6 years. Im guessing it could be the immobilizer or steering lock playing into things.

+1 on the bad clutch pedal switch. My new one will be here tomorrow. I am having the same issue. Sometimes takes 2 tries to get started. This is what I ordered:

Mine does the same thing. It will start to crank and then just stop. Try again and no problem. My guess is it's related to the engine ground. Apparently there's a cable from the top of the engine to chassis ground that frequently gets corroded. Unfortunately, replacing requires dropping the engine.

Same as previous poster: It will start to crank and then just stop. Try again and no problem.

I have a similar problem, always starts on 2nd attempt first thing in the morning, but once its been started it will always start until the next morning? changed the starter motor & battery and its the same? No Error messages on speedo either, its a bit embarrassing to be honest.

No pictures but given that another poster said he replaced the starter and battery and the problem still occurs it sounds like a ground issue or something in the computer that shuts off cranking due to excessive current. My guess is the engine is hard to crank for some reason, the computer stops the cranking but the initial crank relieves some pressure and then it starts.
In the case that it's a ground issue this can be a bad thing. I read a thread on the ground a few days ago but tried looking for the thread on this using Google today and can't find it. But in the thread it mentioned the ground lug is on the top of the engine and the only way to access it is with an engine drop. Hopefully this is not the case.

Hmm, seems like a common issue for the car, I wonder why I was the first to raise it.
Luckily my car is on balance of Porsche extended warranty, so I'm going to book it in(when they come back from summer vacation ) and see what they say.
